Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Wednesday, May 18. 2011"I'm offended. Rearrange the world for me."Nowadays, all it takes is one jackass to mess things up for everybody else. Why does one whining person have more power than hundreds of non-whining people? "I'm offended. Rearrange the world for me." Given the statistical likelihood that there is at least one stupid, selfish or self-righteous jackass fault-finder in any group, it's guaranteed that somebody will bitch about something every time anything happens. Hence the ACLU. ACLU Wants Historic Cross Covered During Graduation. And how come my offended whining about their whining carries no water at all? Am I the wrong kind of whiner? Trackbacks

I know that auditorium quite well. You may be sure that the Neptune HS administration will bend their ceremony whichever way the ACLU demands. You may be equally sure the Methodist organization that owns and operates the auditorium will not cover up any of the crosses - and they've got at least two very large ones on prominent display.
This one has me riled up so I'm back. The Great Auditorium is very special - quite possibly unique. I have had the great pleasure to attend six years of my daughters' participation in a particular annual performance there. I have stopped by on several occasions during summers just to wander past the auditorium and listen to whatever was being performed there The doors are always open and the acoustics are wonderful.
From the Fox News article: "The Great Auditorium, a nationally recognized landmark, is steeped in history. The building has hosted Ulysses S. Grant and six other U.S. presidents, as well as 27 of New Jersey’s governors. Mark Twain was a member of the auditorium’s board of directors, and religious leaders like the Rev. Billy Graham have spoken there. The auditorium also functions as a concert venue for many secular events and has hosted acts as varied as the Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra Jr., and Peter, Paul and Mary." Perhaps the whining ninny who complained would be kind enough to take a short walk of a nearby long pier and thereby enhance the gene pool. A single whiny jackass who speaks only for himself is easily ignored. But a single whiny jackass who speaks the truth can be easily silenced. That’s why I like blogging so much.
God and Jews must be removed from the new liberal order.
Belief in these heathen rituals impedes progress. How will we accept all forms of perversions if people believe in God? People need freedom to explore thier inner needs without a few religious fanatics dictating thier beliefs. We really need a "tongue-in-cheek," or sarcasm button on our computers.
Gold, Dr. Mercury, pure gold! I suppose if the graduation ceremony were held outdoors anywhere in sight of the large cross on the face of the building the ACLU would still complain because the cross would be "visible during a public event." Fine. Hold the ceremony outdoors and let them file suit.
Perhaps some civic-minded citizen should get up on stage and call for a show of hands, if the cross be covered, to demand the uncovering of it--and then do so.
Dennis ... I can tell by your careless attitude toward spelling our beautiful English language that you need to "explore thier inner needs" to learn and your own inner necessity to learn to spell. From your cavalier attitude, I suspect you believed your elementary school teachers when they told you not to bother with learning to spell because machines would do it for you.
Believe me, they won't. There's no substitute for thinking your statements through. As the Jews have notably done through most of history. If as you say, "God and the Jews must be removed from the new liberal order," then all that will be left are boring old liberals who don't know how to spell. Like you... Marianne I am not a liberal, and if spelling is so important to you, it renforces my point that people have lost focous on what "is"
important. So called Conservatives, such as this site that posts semi nude pictures of women, just help the liberal agender of degrading religion. In a battle the enemey uses weakness to distroy the enemy. What is taken as humor can be used as propagander. I am very sarcastic, but I am sick and tired of people not realizing that we are at a tipping point of losing our freedom and our financial freedom. Blogging has become a great avenue of venting, but it has not become a unifying force to stop the encroachment of our freedom. The Left wants total control, No religion and redistributation of wealth. You may think you are immune from the comming changes, but they will come, spelling be damned. Miss Marianne meself missed basis of fact yall rely for "thinking your statements through. As the Jews have notably done through most of history."
Omnipresence might know if it were so but common, girl. P.S. Marianne, if I was a Liberal I would have answered in rants and vulgarities to your comment. We need to take back
our country so we all can join B.D. at Lincoln Center. Perhaps, sarcastic could be penalized if they don't p.s. sarcasm
Hello? "There's no substitute for thinking your statements through. As the Jews have notably done through most of history."
As long as we're talking proper English here, these two statements might be linked by semicolon but as two independant sentences, they're fragments. And it only took one whiny jackass to mess up every dishwasher in the country! Everybody is trying to "change the world" and they're screwing it up beyond belief.
Dose Amigo and Dennis ... "Proper English?" You both seem worried about fragmentary sentences as part of prose style. In prose, which has been compared to music when it is well written, fragmentary sentences can create a rhythm which enhances understanding. "A master stylist, ironically enough, often relies on brief sentence fragments to give emphasis and a sense of immediacy to his prose," as one author put it. Blog postings are informal, so sentence fragments are understandable as part of a casual prose style.
What you haven't answered, Dennis Lukas, is why you made the statement that "God and the Jews must be removed from the new Liberal order." What is the new Liberal order, and why can't it stand on its own two feet? I hope you have some reasonable points to make, no matter how you punctuate and spell them. Marianne Marianne, I don't normally correct anyone's typing on the internet but I found it interesting that you would follow up your admonishment of another with improper use of the language yourself. Blog or not, your sentence was notably flawed. How did the format you used better the following?
