We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Everyone needs to take a step back and calm down. I'm not excusing the actions of national unions like SEIU (I detest them) but not every public employee is a hard-left ideologue. Mostly, we're regular folks doing a job and supporting our families. I hope this bit of insider's perspective is useful to AT readers, and thank you for letting me vent.
Look how Americans are at each others throats under this administration. Is that the plan?
Many government employees took those jobs just because that was what was available.
The unions and politicians are very responsible for this current debacle. They kept growing government to get votes.
Union menbers will need to wise up as they have been used. They need to accept pay and benefit cuts. Some jobs will be phased out.
All the suddenly turned conservatives that voted year after year for liberal union supporting politicians will need to stop villifying government workers.
We need good leadership with an interest in bringing Americans together.
