We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

A question worth asking

America's largest newspapers--The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The L.A. Times--all wrote richly detailed obituaries for Elizabeth Taylor, the Hollywood icon who died of heart failure this week, at 79.  But no matter how richly detailed, every single one of these papers didn't say a word about Taylor's conversion to Judaism when she was 27.  Why? Is it not chic among the MSM to be so dedicated to Israel as Elizabeth Taylor?

Unfortunately, if they had brought up her faith, most would have probably felt constrained to mention her activism with the Zionist Organization of America and turn an obituary into a pathetic, anti-Israel polemic (considering how they conveniently transformed a massacre of 5 into a rebuke of settlements).

Bruce, why not link to Gene Simmons' scathing rebuke of musicians that are boycotting Israel, I guess for "humanitarian reasons." I heard about it but have been off-line for hours.

I could swear the NYT mentioned it yesterday. But then again, it was a huge 2-page spread..

The movie section had a big spread that mentioned it, but I'm not sure about the obit.
