Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Methinks, the blunder over Libya is no blunder atall but another intentional investment furthering destruction of American treasure.

Maher called Palin a twat because he couldn't say cunt. He censored himself. That by itself makes it what it is, namely part for the whole, a standard rhetorical figure.

Cunt has the additional property of being a dirty word, which makes it offensive. Twat isn't a dirty word.

That's not a matter of referent, but of convention. Certain words are dirty, and we make them dirty because there's a need for offensive words. We set certain words aside for that purpose

The controversy is fake; trying to make referents into the dirty word criterion.

Ever hear of the Vagina Monologues? It's all over the news.

The offensiveness in using dirty words comes from their being in familiar register, and they mark the entire utterance that they occur in as familiar.

But familiar utterances must be licensed, and the offense is taking that license without its being granted.

Among friends, so to speak, they're not offensive.

Barney Frank deliberately played a central role in a meta-scheme which broke the free world financial system, sent unemployment thru the roof, ir ruining the Dollar, is causing food price inflation all over the third world, literally taking food from the mouths of babies, and crushed the hopes and dreams of hundreds of millions of innocent people.

And he calls the people who pitifully tried to stop him "morally stupid bigots" ?

He is a vicious, totally corrupted, perverted Saturn eating his own children --Chronos the Monster has NOTHING on him. He is filth, full of crawling insects and leaking putrid flesh.
