Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The American Progressive’s Monopoly on the Seven Deadly Sins


That's the title of an opus by Vanderleun. (Bosch's image from his post which I am pleased to add to my image library.) He says:



These days it would seem that the 7 deadly sins are now the 7 cardinal virtues of the progressive left.


I had been having similar thoughts lately, especially regarding government avarice. It's a topsy-turvy world we live in, with Wonderland twists of language and meaning. Glad he wrote the piece.

Seattle is indeed lost. In the early 1900's they proudly claimed the title of "Least Churched City in America"!

Not saying he wasn't brilliant. But he had a very strange mind, Bosch. It's not always a given correlation.

It seems to me both the right and the left are so far from center that they could both be seen in the photo.

The seven deadly sins used to be private vices but now they are lauded as public virtues. The Govenor of Washington state was interviewed on TV and said they couldn't cut spending because they would have to cut the funding to education and medical care and that would be immoral. The woman believes that not spending other people's money to do good is immoral. This is the inversion of morality where doing good at somebody else's expense is now considered moral.
