Tons more wonderful snow and cold this morning, and a bigger dump coming tonight - an Ice Age thanks to the crisis of global warming. From the news, you'd think it was the end of the world.

How do they manage in places like Moscow or Montreal or Winnipeg? They just keep going - and they don't close the schools or the airports either.

Brilliant!

Great piece, and I don't think it's fully tongue-in-cheek.

I've been to Montreal during a good snow, the city is a machine in removal efficiency.

As a person that actually has to work in the snow, my thinking is that those who embrace snow are those that only have to play in it.

Snow makes the work harder and take longer. It is hard on the livestock and equipment as well.

So call me a weenie. The snow is mostly melted at my house and I would be very happy if it was the last snow of the winter.

Dr. Torch ... You should come to Milwaukee Wisconsin during a good snow. They start plowing as soon as the first flakes fall. That's the only way to keep up with it. And they do a darn good job of prompt snow removal. Mayor Bloomberg of New York should go, humbly with hat in hand, and ask the City of Milwaukee, or the City of Minneapolis how they do it. And just shut up and listen while they tell him. What happened in New York during that recent blizzard is a disgrace.

Yes, there's a recognizable "snow line" in the US and Wisconsin is definitely on the competent northern side of it.

I lived in London for a number of years and, as a Canadian, was always amused at the utter calamity that a light dusting of white brought to that city.

Now, where I live in the Ottawa Valley countryside, the snow plows operate with a ruthless efficiency. The kids out here hate them of course - because it means the school bus pretty well always gets through!
