Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

My neighborhood hawk

I call this a Harry Reid-Tailed Hawk because his head seems to be screwed on backwards:

No, if it was a Harry Reid-Tailed Hawk the cranium would be smaller and it's tail would be blue to camouflage it's political leanings. That's just a plain Red-Tailed Hawk.

Like his namesake, it's so far up that particular part of his anatomy that it reappears on his shoulders!

Actually, it's a cruel and malicious thing to call any bird. Except maybe a vulture.

Ethan Hawke lazily hunts field mice in the cottonwood behind my house. Just sits in the tree till he sees one. Drops on it. Flies back up to the tree. Every day.
