Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

US immigration map

Foreign-born people in the US, from 1880 to present. You can see data from country of origin, and look at the data by county. You could play with this map for hours.

Very interesting.... but I wonder what criteria are being reported. My own Irish ancestors came to Canada from Ireland, stayed for a decade or so, then came to Ohio before the Civil War and then to Michigan..... So were they counted as "Canadian" or "Western European"? But still, informative.

This just lists foreign-born, not ancestry.

It appears that the folks south of the border have a faster growing population than we do. How fair is that? You talk us into birth control--they don't take the pill, so they win.
