Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The new Diversity Economy

I agree that our ruling classes are living in the 1930s.

We knew that economic incompetence would be the order of the day but to this extent? Is it incompetence or malevolence?

Most academics...and this administrations appears to be quite academically-oriented...simply do not understand that doing things is *hard*, executive management is *hard*, friction (in the Clausewitzian sense) rules the world...there tends to be a belief that a few brilliant minds at the top can set direction, leaving implementation concerns for lesser minds. Interestingly, this fallacy also can be frequently found among B-school professors, though probably not quite to the same extent as their social-sciences and liberal-arts bretheren.
