We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Instead of inspiration the Democrat Party delivers shopworn socialist solution, numbing boredom, sheer despair, intellectual and spiritual poverty, sexism, and the worst sort of racism seen since it gave birth to the Klu Klux Klan. Classical racism loathes "the other." The new racism of the Democrat requires one loathe oneself first and last, and to accuse those that do not of racism. To paraphrase Bob Dylan, "The Democrats want to get you down in the hole that they're in."
Instead of telling us what sort of New Jerusalem it would have us build as our City on the Hill, the party requires that its members root about in the ghettos of the soul, to ponder the rightness or wrongness of the very babies of its opponents. Instead of waving the bright banners of America triumphant, the Party dons the rags and bones of defeatism and appeasement and moves about the country like a tarted-up Typhoid Mary, infecting all who kiss its chancred lips. As a party, it's a poxed whore for whom no condom is thick enough. It's a death trip.
Nice to see Mr. Vanderleun's conversion has stuck.
I remain curious about how people were... many still are... enamored of the Democrat party. I have no love for the Republican party but the Democrat party has disgusted me since I was a youngster.
It is the party of Jim Crow, inner city blight, union lawlessness, public employee union overreach, thuggish machine politics, and on and on and on. It is nothing short of a criminal enterprise.
Even I, a yute of less than 18, could see it as I had my first experience of a Teamster strike. They were exempted from laws concerning assault and property destruction as far as I could tell. When I looked about me i could easily watch the open and obvious activities of union enforcers in the work place. Why was this a good thing and why was one political party devoted to it and controlled by it?
What was the attraction other than empty rhetoric? I've long wondered and never heard much more than some vague claim about civil rights and the fight against racism and poverty. My response to that is to wonder why I should give credit for these "solutions" to those people who so gleefully deepened the problems in the first place. It was none other than Democrats who put in place the conditions that created the great American diaspora of southern black into northern cities where they could be managed for maximum profit by urban Democrats. To this day it is the same people of the same party who refuse to even investigate potential methods for making anything better.
Haven't had anything but disdain and loathing for them for nigh unto forty years. Can't see that diminishing any time soon since they are only getting worse. Now they openly vilify everyone who is not one of them.
BTW, they will not go quietly. They will employ violence.

The promise of the government taking care of you always and unconditionally, giving you everything your heart desires without you having any responsibility or duty, is a strong one.
And after 50 years of communist controlled public education the average citizen/subject has been dumbed down enough that they no longer notice that the reality is quite different.
Knucklehead ... You wonder what the attraction is for the Democrats to swank around playing King Cophetua? They want the fun and self-approbation of feeling generous with other people's money. Showing off their supposed superiority to the rest of us hard-working peasants, using our hard-earned and wistfully-missed tax dollars to do it.
They are now afraid that we, the great hard-working folks in fly-over country are beginning to catch on to the con game. You're right... they will not go quietly. And there will be violence as the fall elections get closer.
