Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Cape Cod Bay

Low tide, Cape Cod Bay, way out on the western shore of Great Island this weekend. Heaven. You can even bring your doggie. No people there, either, except me and the Mrs. and the rare beachcomber.

I'll be there next week, get my fill of oysters at the Bookstore (Mac's is too trendy), shuffle out Chequesset Neck and over Herring River to Great Island, window shop The Left Bank, and try to check out that new pastry place in South Wellfleet. Then swing down to Arnold's for fried clams, onion rings and a frappe.

Can you tell I'm ready for vacation?
