We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"Well, a lot of those folks, your employer it's estimated would see premiums fall by as much as 3,000 percent [sic], which means they could give you a raise."- President Obama in Strongville Ohio, March 15, as quoted on the White House Web site.
A math-deprived or learning-disabled White House site, for certain.
Bret Baier of Fox News really had the Zero-man on the run yesterday. He just can't get the facts straight, and he's stopped trying. He answered Baier's question about special favors to states as a bribe to vote for his bloody healthcare plan by citing New Orleans flood problems. He's "forgotten" the billions poured into New Orleans by the Bush Administration. He said that it was O.K. to give New Orleans special favors because they weren't the only state to be helped...Hawaii had an earthquake, he said. An earthquake? Not recently anyway. Hawaii got a tsunami warning, along with the large area of the Pacific where it is located. Turned out to be nothing much.
The man is so frantic now to get his healthcare bill passed that the lies are getting sloppier all the time.
This trainwreck has stopped being entertaining and I've run out of popcorn ... and patience.
MM, what you saw acted out in contention between Brett Baier and Barack Obama, is precisely what this current Nyquist essay talks about --only via Cicero and Caesar rather than Baier and Obama.
