Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

There are few human beings on planet earth more annoying than Deepak Chopra, the touchy-feely, New Age Guru whose fetid, gooey, and completely banal nostrums regarding health and healing have reached a new low in the history of civilized thought.



But, Rick, remember that he has gotten fabulously rich from his banal nostrums. So maybe he's not a complete idiot. Maybe he is our P.T. Barnum.

Rick Moran is an "intellectual legend in his own mind"! He so desperately wants to be recognized for his own fence-straddling intellectualism (not intellect) in order to land a fat cat policy-making position as a DC bureaucrat, it makes the mind boggle!

I think you're partially right: he aspires to be "calm"!

He's dismissive of those who don't "think" as he does and he's blindered in many ways.

I want my thinkers robust enough to challenge others in throw-down fashion, not the kind who tap their pipes on the chair and walk away from the rough and tumble of practical application of theory!

Whoa, not so fast! Another contender who has created a spectacle that we pay to bring our children to is the global warming mission promoted by Al Gore. Ask your college-attending sons and daughters about the propaganda served up by their professors in their particular ring of the circus (which I hardly need remind you is at your expense.)

Mr. Gore has made a small fortune with his efforts, too.
