We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
a good read for anyone who appreciates a glimpse into an elite world and the dysfunction that usually surrounds the process of getting and staying there
Saw an interview with him past few weeks, and he's a very honest person to the point of much self-effacement - admitting he hated playing tennis (was coerced by his dad) and was more concerned with his ever-increasing baldness (pressure of image) and whether his hair pieces would fall off from any sudden jerk, during his biggest historical moments even. His ability to return the meanest serves keeps me admiring his abilities as one of the best ever - and he has a very happy marriage with the former great Ms. Graf. Cheers, TomG
I wonder... if you gave this book to parents who want their children to succeed, and, after they read it, asked them 'Is this what you want for your kid?' how many would say 'Yes, of course.'
How many kids would say, let's see: crazy behavior, babes, drugs, money, fame: that's what success is. It's what it takes to succeed. No one succeeds by being timid and conforming.
