Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Tree coming down

A melancholy chore to take ye olde tree down. However, it will have an extended life outdoors for a couple of months as the needles slowly drop, providing some cheery outdoor light and a place for the sparrows to hang out in and in which to hide from the Sharpies that haunt our area.

I extend the season as long as I can. Next, Feast of the Wisemen on January 6. After that, Russian Christmas. I always have my outside lights on for them.

Is that a Tiffany porcelain and ribbon angel on the top of that tree? Mrs. Francis has one that looks almost identical - at least from what I can tell.

Do you mean that after you take the tree down from inside, you put it up outside and re-string with outdoor lights? Ohh, hadn't thought of that!

Outside Christmas lights run for the 12 days, Dec 25 to Jan 6.
Inside tree comes down tomorrow. Inside decorations came down Jan 1.
Bah humbug season starts today, continues till next Christmas.

I took down tree & all of our decorations this morning. Suddenly the house seems very very drab
