We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Talking points and debating points, at Daily Express. Not that facts matter any more.
Related: Al Gore's mosquito story is pure BS. Malaria is only a tropical disease due to public health advances, DDT, and drainage of marshes in the developed world. At the turn of the last century, malaria was endemic in New England. Russia, too.
Leaders of fifty African nations came to Copenhagen asking $400 billion for the next three years to "offset" carbon credit "damages" which they claim to suffer. Inexplicably, two days ago, that demand was increased to an eye-goggling 5% of GDP (gross domestic product), estimated at $722 billion from the United States alone. There never was a response from the industrialized world.

Related, via Dino from some psychotic, self-aggrandizing moron at Copenhagen:
I just sat there thinking: Itís not enough. We didnít do enough. I should have started earlier. People are dying already.
People are dying from "progressive" economic and development policies, as implemented by kleptocratic governments. Natural disasters have actually diminished a bit recently. Slight changes in the temperatures only produce famine in countries with bad governments and bad roads, which mostly go together.
Cheap energy and personal liberty. Turn those two loose and watch the poor families flourish. Meantime, the watermelons send them to their deaths.
