Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Tuesday, December 1. 2009I question the timing.
I loved this quote from the CRU computer guy: "We can have a proper result, but only by including a load of garbage!" Today: Jones stepping down. Penn State to investigate Mann. That's the core of the IPCC's numbers factory. Plus there has already been a political fatality in Australia - probably the first actual victim of global warming. Trackbacks

Are you serious?
What front pages? The conservative ones? It damn sure ain't on the evening news. And why do you care about that filthy sewer pipe anyway? Turn that crap off, it's ruining your brain. The people who pay attention to the "front pages" either know and like Palin, or don't know and/or hate her. Those same people have no idea what "climategate is" and likely never will. These are the ones who think the emperor is actually wearing something. Let's not forget that IPCC = United Nations. All of this "climate change" BS is done under the auspices of the United Nations Environment Program, which IPCC falls under.
At the end of the day, it's about leftism and global governance. Heh, I question some other things...
So it’s been a couple weeks and no word about the banning. In addition to those who have spoken up, I'm sure that there are a few others who also appreciated meta's comments, even if they did recently get a little out hand. And, granted, there must be some (many?) who felt quite differently. Of course she was giving as good a she got while not having the editorial power of comment deletion on her side. But I'd rather not get into that. I see that Leag is still calling Obambi "Mudboy" (well at least he capitalizes it), not that I would ban him for it myself, but given the circumstances...And let's not forget the posting of Obambi toilet paper which, granted, was taken down but the contributor was neither banned nor canned. I'm sure you can still get it in some regions of Pakistan, not that they know what to do with it. I must inquire, how long did the previous banning last? While our beloved rascal habu was asking for it, meta just lost her cool a little. Now I hear that Luther has been banned...what is this, Boston? But Luther "asked" for it, I suppose. Some people can't take a joke, it seems. Oh, and habu is supposedly back. Not that if he was who he said he was he couldn't have found a way back in. Of course a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, and all that... The overreaction that occurred here, along with the “troll” references on the page from two weeks ago, leads me to think that maybe a burr under the saddle of the proprietors had more to do with this little incident than the supposed event(s) that led to it. Me thinks this incident was an opportunity to take a shot over the bow of those who challenge just a teensy little bit of the orthodoxy here. Well, wth, it's a big ocean. Funny, I thought we all agreed more than we disagreed. As I’ve said before, aren’t we all on the same team? Yes, meta (and the rest of us) can go elsewhere and you are certainly entitled to set up whatever little world you like on your time/dime. I don't want to let it go unsaid that efforts to create this little niche have been appreciated by me (myself? Certainly not I). However, it seems this little space perhaps always was, but definitely now is a different animal than I previously had taken it to be. Of course I've always felt that the politicized right and left suffer from the same delusions, as the manifestations of how they deal with opposing views so often result in similar tactics…but that’s a whole other subject… I question some other things...
