We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Congress is all messed up

Health care: They tried to do too much, over-reached, went too far Left, tried to grab too much control, and now they are in a pickle.  It's their own darn fault. Hubris. Even the Blue Dogs are facing spending fatigue.


Meanwhile, the "Great Uniter" remains on the attack. Please, O, bring us together!!!

Right now to save America we need some steady leadership that reassures businesses of lower taxes, less government spending, no new regulations, educational reform to improve the work force, and confident expansionary energy exploration and development. Instead, we get a prescription to terrify private enterprise: Mr. President, every time you besmirch someone as greedy, lying, and unduly rich, some business, somewhere, pulls in its horns.

Of course, VDH assumes that the effect of business pulling in its horns is not exactly what Obama wants.

While we're on this topic, please let me toss in an off/thread which has been bugging me as it has gotten almost zero attention in the press. let me bulletpoint it:

--White House "Pay Czar" Kenneth Feinberg has forced Citigroup to sell it's oil-futures trading arm, Phibro, to Occidental Petroleum. The purported reason: a Phibro trader who made too much money, and so Citibank, as a TARP recipient, should not have any truck with such a high commission trader. IOW, Feinberg found an excuse to do something somebody wanted done.

--Among others, well known analyst Dick Bove made several statements regarding the sale price being "unprecendentedly low" and "outside the boundaries of corporate behavior" et cetera, based on the standard industry metrics and so forth.

--Occidental Petroleum, as owner of Phibro, neatly installs the KGB/FSB in the global energy futures market in a brand new entity now as a USA-registered company. Here's a few searches, just a glance thru the headers will show you what I mean.

I just read a book by Daniel Silva and learned all about the machinations of the KGB/FSB. (One and the same) This stuff makes your hair stand on end, and worse, people are not privy to 99% of what goes on beneath the radar.
