We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

For what little it is worth, my contacts who work in the medical field, particularly hospitals, seem to be claiming H1N1 is relatively mild as far as flus go. The claim seems to be, been there, done that, got the bug before.

Which is to say I wouldn't count on it being The One's Katrina. It won't have enough impact and the press won't relentlessly magnify what impact it has. They will play the mildness - if, indeed, it is a relatively mild virus - as victory for The One and evidence of The Onederfulness of Government.

Thanks, Buddy, for the Hitler quote. Disarmament of the populace will be a crtitcal element in setting the stage for Hussein-Obama's national security defense force. Remember that lurking proposal?

It was in a July 2, 2008 speech when he deviated from his pre-released script and performed without the teleprompter net, saying (according to American Thinker (http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/07/obamas_civilian_national_secur.html#),

"'We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.'"

So ask yourself, if our military is to defend our country from its external enemies, what could his civilian national security force defend against but internal enemies, that is to say, political enemies of his state, those sad little people who cling to their guns and religion.

This isn't speculation -- it's Obama's declaration of intent to establish a gestapo.

Read News Junkie's above link to David Thompson ("I sense a malign presence") where racist Jane Elliott declares all whites to be permanently and irredeemably racist, and "reveals more than she intends when telling her captive audiences that 'a new reality is going to be created, 'that they have 'no power, absolutely no power.'"

It is all being laid out before us, as it was in Germany in 1932. Will we wear blinders as the Germans did, or will we choose to see?

Kondratieff ... Obama's "mighty militia" may end up like a Gestapo, but he hopes to slip it over on us as something like the Hitler Jugend --- which, of course, ended up as folded into the Gestapo, but which was supposed to resemble the Boy Scouts at first. Their mission statement, however, was entirely different from the Boy Scouts, and included spying on their parents and relatives and reporting their "suspicious activities" to the authorities, and suchlike activities.

So if you see any brownshirted guys wandering around your neighborhood, asking oh-so-innocent questions about your neighbors, don't answer them.
