We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

White coats

Just a note to the White House PR jokers: Docs do not wear white coats outside of work settings. Nowadays, they sometimes wear them in the office, and usually during hospital rounds (but increasingly less so).


I never heard of a Doc wearing a white coat in a public setting. It's absurd. Those Docs in DC were used. They are tools. I doubt that any of them are practicing Docs.

What is this Obama PR nonsense? Docs wear hospital coats to prevent the spread of infection. They should probably change them several times a day...and certainly not wear them outside the medical environment.

And while I'm at it, ties should be banned. Nervous docs smooth their ties while giving bad news. Those ties never get cleaned...spread germs from one patient to another.

It's all about the perception of reality, not reality, that matters in government now. If things look okay (even when they are clearly not) then you can go on pretending.

But while I think the Big O's publicity machine is out of control, I do understand they are only doing what everyone else is already doing in the WH. Can't blame them for wanting to join in.

Oh, steve, steve, steve, steve....Perception IS reality. A doctor told me so. You really need to have your head examined, you'd understand these things so much better.

When I first saw the photo of O flanked by four "doctors" I thought it was odd that they, hmmmmm, came straight from their offices, no time to change or slip off their coats? Plus it just looked goofy. Then I saw the article about the WH passing out coats. LOL.

Someone should photoshop a surgical mask on Obama in that picture. The kind that hooks behind the ears so his ears would stick out like Mickey Mouse.

BTW, there was a story in this week's Parade magazine insert concerning doctors and their white coats. Apparently they're going to stop using them because they don't wash them very often. I assumed they were there to prevent the spread of disease but apparently it more serves their (you chose which "their" I mean) purpose.
