We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Nobody really cares too much about major health care changes. (Except the Dem pols who want the power). So if people aren't demanding it, what's the big rush? Betsy
WH met with 60 artists prior to NEA call, to support Dem policies. This stinks, but the NEA shouldn't exist anyway. Michelangelo did just fine without it.
Re New York's taxes: a little while ago, before the administration of Paterson in NYawk or His Hopeful Changeness in DC, there was a debate over school funding. Part of the debate model was that increasing taxes would drive out those who had large but not ridiculous incomes, leaving a shrinking tax base until the base collapsed. It was poo-pooed at the time.
The time was 1972. The result has happened in places like NYawk and Mattatusets. It didn't happen in a single catastrophe, so the progressives missed it. But happen it has.
