Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Crash blossoms

It depends on your precise definition of crash blossoms, (presumably from the old headline "Violinist linked to JAL crash blossoms") but I did like some of these headlines offered in the comments:

There's an old joke about the guys on the floor of the stock exchange who follow the stocks as they change from minute to minute and yell out the changes. They have their own abbreviations for the bigger corporations. Pittsburgh Screw and Bolt is known as 'Love 'Em and Leave 'Em. Always gave me a chuckle.

Apocryphal but I've heard that the Duke (Univ.) Chronicle had a headline when Nixon imposed price controls on food: Nixon Holds Rising Meat

And my all time favorite was in the Japan Times (English language paper). I thought the article was going to be about brigands in the hinterlands robbing places where people stay: Small town Outlaws Love Hotels
But it was about a small town which banned places of assignation called "love hotels" that usually rented rooms by the hour.
