We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Best new TV series of the season

Breitbart's Big Government site sure launched with a bang. The ACORN team visits California. For those who have not been following the story, this is not satire.


The MSM doesn't want to touch this, because the O served as ACORN's legal counsel, as I understand it. And/or leadership trainer, etc. Beck says ACORN and SEIU are joined at the hip.

Update: Now it appears that the lady may have been pulling their legs. That makes more sense, because her game was just as outrageous as Jim's.

At first I was a bit amused, but now I find all of this unspeakably sad. This is not my America.

Come to think of it. How does that work? Do you take, like a thousand aspirin and have the lining of your stomach bleed, or are they laced with cyanide first?

I dunno B, I find myself encouraged, because these youngsters seem to be reviving the art of investigative journalism, which I had feared was dead or in chains to the "fan-zine" style Mainstream Media. Maybe there are others like them out here in flyover country who will not accept the theory propounded by modern journalism professors that every so-called 'news story' written by them should be a disguised editorial directing the sheep-like public to certain predetermined conclusions.

One can only hope.

I think those two kids are smart as hell. Letting it dribble out, day by day. I really got to hand it to 'em. What a couple of great kids. By God, there's spunk left in America yet!

At one time I had thought that the old-line media would have been able to impose their will by resurrecting the Fairness Doctrine and drafting more intrusive "hate speech" legislation, making stuff like this impossible. But here we are seeing something new. And the old gatekeepers can't police the gate. So there is hope. Plenty, in fact.

I wish there would be a second series on how ACORN and similar groups extorted banks into making bad mortgage loans to people who couldn't afford them.

I don't know whether you folks noticed but the date, displayed on the screen, is 2005 - four years ago. They got the hair guy from Illinois on phone taps. Maybe, just maybe, they're trying to scare up some traffic on the tapped phone lines?

I just read their entire blog. What a terrific site, and they are all over this - which I see as a beginning to a huge scandal. More to come, no question about it. And if the MSM continues to ignore it, it's a stake into their already bleeding hearts.

It's really enjoyable seeing these 'activists' sweat, and I have to hand it to Breitbart, he knows how to make the subject bleed out. Instead of the insipid WashPost or NY Times method with one big blast news story, then run it 17 times over again in a week in mildly edited form, he is dribbling out single stories, each with enough news to be a feature article. The cumulative effect on ACORN - Activist Creep Overthrowing the Republic Now - must be devastating.

Change of topic, a friend made me aware that the "METRO" free newspaper which is handed out at bus and subway entrances around Boston (and owned by the Boston Globe) is dismissing the DC protest on Saturday. They printed a photo of the Washington Mall that they claim is the "proof" the conservatives have offered to substantiate the size of the crowd and claim that they have proved that the photo is from 1997 and so the Tea Party rally was a bust. Also that the only large crowd in DC on Saturday was a black church group, according to the METRO.

Of course since my friend hadn't heard anything about the DC Tea Party, he only watches network TV, he believed it. I talked to him about it for a while, but I don't think he believed me.

John ... Reminds me of the old joke about the guy jumping out of the skyscraper and someone on one of the lower floors saying, "Are you O.K?" as he passed by their window. "So far," the guy hollers back, "everything is fine."
