We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

There is a site allowing you to vote on ALL Congresspeople and, if you choose, write them to explain your votes. Easy way to respond to daily changes in the political climate.

Joe Wilson was the conduit for a little thing called truth that was hovering around those most august and officious officials. It picked Joe Wilson of South Carolina because the pols of SC are crazy nuts and truth yelled itself out of his mouth. Greatest moment so far in this carnival of a presidency. I think it will be a turning point. Three cheers for Joe and get him a nice, hot voluptuary from Argentina as his reward for starting the revolution. Damn, what a great moment. I bet he's even had democrats patting him on the back out of sight of others.

Nice!!!

It's funny (as in sad) that even though Joe Wilson placed the focus on the truth with his comment, the circus is primarily focused on "lack of decorum."

My brain hurts listening to Obama twist and turn. Obama spews all kinds of contradictions (often in the same speech), makes claims that are supposed to sound factual but are never substantiated and conjures up causes for problems that have nothing to do with the problem at all.

For example, Obama says our economic problems are caused by the current state of health care, existing energy policy and the need for better education. Huh?

Just take energy. He trots out cap n' trade as an energy policy when in fact it's a tax that will distort supply, demand and market prices.

Obama is one huge, many sided lie.

What I liked about Wilson's comment is that it focused, or at least it should focus, things on the content of Obama's claims. Lies indeed!

Scott, dear -- As far as caning is concerned, that, and the duello are out of fashion, dammit. But Mr. O is earning hisself a big pile of scorn and contempt. And it hasn't even been a year yet.
