We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
B.D.- Thanks for this one. I grew up in North Oakland, and in my early teens we had the Davis family move in across the street. The Rev. Davis had one son, a few years older than I, and 8 (or maybe 9) daughters. Mrs. Davis played the piano, and they made up most of the church choir. I don't know how many afternoons and evenings we got to hear them practicing, and some of us outside playin' ball in the street would even clap along with the music. The son, Ralph, tried sneakin' out to play ball with us, but it didn't take long for his voice to be missed inside. Great music!
