BD.... my empathy. Up to recently I pecked a keyboard 7-5+, 5+ days a week in support of global retail systems. Amazing how angry people get when they can't use their credit card at 3am! (or how ticked off the marketing group gets when they take a multi thousand dollar hit because the software they bought for political reasons turns to be P.O.S. software (in both senses of the term. Heh.)). [aside: it is great sport and fun to write an outage report to the executives using the P.O.S. acronym. One can talk at length about the P.O.S. software, the support people see it one way and the marketing types, even IF they read it the same way, cannot come back for an incorrect term. It really is Point Of Sale software.] I think Marianne has it right there. I notice on my home VPN firewall/router, the logs show a marked increase of attacks late at night/weekends.
