We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The primary duty of the President is Commander of the Armies and the Navy, which is also the seat of the Admiralty power and this the President Commander in Chief of our armed forces. He is not given the spot to remedy economic ills, or other woes of the financial sector - in no place is this given as a Presidential duty. Indeed, that primary responsibility calls for the thing the Left bemoaned over the last few years: sacrifice. Yet this President has decided to fight on the cheap by removing funding for weapons systems that have either been demonstrated as effective (such as Ballistic Missile Defense) or which went into final testing after acceptance (like the Non-Line of Sight Cannon). Such systems are meant to protect the Nation and our soldiers in the battlefield and make them more effective. By cutting back on systems, support and equipment, President Obama is the first President in quite some time to actually cut back on military systems during two Congressionally Authorized wars.
Oh, boy, Bird Dog ... If you want a knock-down-drag-out fight with the radical left on 'race and intelligence,' you can pretty well count on one. Race and IQ, eh? They talk about Social Security being 'the third rail' of American politics. But the race/intelligence argument is an even bigger one. Every discussion in the past forty years that has tried to define the two [race and intelligence] or relate the two has meant real trouble for the person who introduced the subject.
That's what this whole insistence in academia on political correctness and multiculturalism is all about, as you well know. Most liberals are too lazy or too scared to declare an opinion on the sticky subject of which races are smarter than which races. They'd rather tell lies about each culture being equally as valuable as all other cultures [sheer laziness on their parts]. Pernicious rubbish. Some cultures are admirable and good, some are sort of so-so on the value scale, and some are downright evil. For the preservation of one's own precious life, one has to decide which is which, eventually.
Good luck with that. If I were you, I'd cultivate a friendship with a retired Navy SEAL. The SEALs say that almost any problem in life can be solved with the application of a well-shaped explosive charge. And, psst ... I suspect that the retired ones keep a few of those charges around to be used when necessary.
Interesting. Only one person dares to comment on race and intelligence. Meanwhile 27 comment on a Sean Connery movie. I wonder what that says about the mindset of the readers at MF?? In general I always marvel at how some posts get a lot of comments while others get nearly none. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it.
