Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Regarding "that green house in Canada" - it is actually in Troy, Michigan (USA). Troy is a suburb of Detroit. If you look at a map, it is in southeastern Michigan, where the climate is fairly mild (and mitigated by the Great Lakes) compared with most of Canada and compared with northern Michigan. The house was mostly funded by Lawrence Tech and built by its students.

While off topic, I just had a nice you woman show up at my door from the ACLU trying to drum up support for the ACLU in its effort to "uphold the Constitution" and support "human rights" and stop the government from torturing people.

After a moment, I knew she did not know what rights are afforded to US citizens and what rights enemy combatants can expect.

I asked her if she had read the Constitution. Then I ended what would have been a frustrating conversation.

What a joke. Clueless but well intentioned.

I was going to say, like our current President. But he's not clueless... he has a definite agenda. To remake this country to his image of what it should be.
