We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Yeah. And what about the liver? It seems to be able to regenerate itself (at least a healthy one does). THAT totally amazes me that it can regenerate and STOP when it reaches the right size. Cut a piece off...it grows back and just stops.
Thanks (I think) JP. That article, coming from an economics writer, was astounding. Shameful on several levels. Is it any wonder the NYT itself is in financial trouble if even their "economic expert" reporters are so clueless in their personal financial lives?
Whoa. Nice insult to Marianne, BD. Also you linked to a blog about psychiatry written by a journalist and claimed it was excellent. It is - one of my daily haunts for a long time now.
Matt Ridley. I've read everything he's written. I doubt I would have understood half of it had the scientists he wrote about written the works. "Genome"; "The Red Queen"; "Nature vs. Nurture" are three of his books.
sigh.... I'm depressed at why people generalize.
