Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Garden shot

I think we did a good job on this little corner. Nepeta (which won't be blooming for a while), some giant allium and regular allium in bloom right now, Wisteria overhead getting ready to bloom (pruned them so hard this winter they might be disappointing this Spring), low boxwood hedging and a thick row of those dwarf yellow lilies heading up on the right. I forget the name of those clumps of bulbs with the bell-like purple flowers, but they are pleasant.

I particularly like the way the allium reach up as if in victory over the 11" stack of paperwork. A much more gratifying Fritter. Well done!

Great job BD. I'm a big fan of allium.
Those columns, they look very similar to the one's used at Obama's nomination.

Put in giant allium 18 mos ago or so. Didn't come up last Spring, but here they are now. Amazing////

You tell me. They are bulbs. Got them so long ago that I forgot. They multiply and spread a bit. Very nice Spring things.

Fritter: Meta - I was pruning my Wisteria and it wrapped around me as I clipped. That stuff scares me. Had coffee this morning. Left wheelbarrow in the rain. That's okay - it has a hole in it.

I have 2 acres of the stuff next door... I spend a good bit of the summer bush hogging my side of the property line and pulling it out of the trees.
