Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I guess I missed something. I have been hearing horrible Bush jokes for years--most of which pointed out facts and weaknesses of Bush.

But when Ted Kennedy humor hits the nail on the head, it is in bad taste all of a sudden.

Either it's all in bad taste or it isn't--GOP and DEM alike. Maybe you have lived too close to Ted and MA to keep a perspective.

I am curious: do you suppose that the reason today's high school children arrive home from school at 1:00PM everyday--all of them in our suburb--do you suppose the plan is to use that afternoon time for "Service"? Would someone please explain to me why these children are only attending school for approximately 3.5 hours a day?

Take a look around your community and tell us MFers what time the kids in your neighborhood arrive home. It would be interesting to compare by states-we might see enough of a difference to make the AFL/CIO uncomfortable. Of course, we would just be handed more lies as justification--but I would like to know what the regional differences are anyway.
