Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Excellent rant

Shep gets it (h/t, Anchoress). It's good to hear the truth from the MSM instead of pure flacking and brown-nosing. Makes me think more highly of Shep Smith:

Shep's last sentence says it all "they are distracting us".
The AIG bonus's are pocket change compared to what the FED did yesterday.
The FED buying T- Bills from the Treasury to the toon of 1 trillion.
The AIG story runs camouflage for the FED.
Congress specializes in dog and pony shows.
I don't want a pony,or a elephant,or two rubber balls.
I want my own damn printing press, complete with Ben Franklin plates!!!

Amazing - All these idiots in Congress and the White House took an oath to protect the Constitution. Bills of attainder and ex post facto laws are forbidden.

So now the government gets to decide which contracts are valid, and retroactively tax enemies of the people into poverty?

Excellent. Now just go one more step: the contributions from AIG to Congress. Sen. Dodd received around $280,000 from AIG over the last 20 years -- part of the $9.3 million they spent on direct contributions (Pres. Obama received about $110,000). One of the top contributors to Congress. Of course, that's nothing compared to lobbying: last year they spent $9.7 million, down from $11.4 million in 2007. And not to forget the many members of Congress that have stock in AIG (Sen. Kerry has about $2 million worth).

Why shouldn't members of Congress who voted for this be taxed at 100% in order to make up for some of the harm they caused? That would only be fair
