Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

We can only hope that the day will come when men of Senator Chris Dodd's upstanding moral character will stand to account for not only their wealth, but for the decisions that no doubt brought them that wealth.

The dream of what FIRE promised it was going to be and to do has not matched the reality--FIRE WILLL NOT PURSUE a claim brought against an administrator, who is a member of a particular tribe! Sorry folks that's a proven fact!

Ok folks--here is a conspiracy theory for you (or, is it systems thinking--I always get so confused). Let's take a look at this:

at the same time our new "leadership" is telling us we have to make a deal with the devil (cocaine,opium,marijuana,etc.), this same "leadership" was elected on the promise of reducing are military overseas. But, comes now the fact--"new leadership" is going to increase military by 20,000 troops in Afghanistan--the home of the world's most productive opium fields! I wonder if this "new leadership" learned their lesson with Viet Nam. After all the only thing America got out of Viet Nam was an increased flow of drugs into our community. What else does Afghan have that we want so much? Secure borders? (give me a break and let the Pakis fight with them) How about a pipeline to Russian oil (look at your topographic maps and find an easier geographical route). How about friends? (yeah, you mean like we did when we put Israel into Palestine--that made us a lot of friends!) Sorry folks, increasing the troops in Afghanistan by that number smells of something nasty!

I can remember the "lifestyle audits" that the IRS used to do on high flyers. Haven't heard much about these anymore- Chris Dodd is no doubt glad because his income certainly couldn't support his lifestyle. Like father like son- his old man was a crook and the apple didin't fall far from the tree. So it must mean that he is dipping into, diverting, disguising, campaign funds, graft, payoffs, somehow. I thought that was illegal, or at the least unethical? Oh, silly, naiive me, it's just another insider joke like all of the rest that goes on in the Washington Defense-Industrial - Corporate- Finance- Special Interest Complex which is so rotten to the core. How much longer will the people put up with this thievery before pushing on this rotten edifice and bringing it down?

Hey Greenmtnpunter: Do you have a link to some fairly reliable document that introduces us to Dodd's family history (corruption)? I have an ol too trusting intelligent liberal to I would like to introduce to this reality--

Try Wikipedia for one on old man Dodd, Sen Thomas Dodd, may provide some news and magazine article references to check further. There's always Congressional Quarterly archives to see the actial resolution censuring old man Dodd.There is a whole movement in CT to oust Dodd the Younger in 2010 or 12, not sure which year. Try Googling for anti-Dodd groups in CT and you should hit something.
