Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

More NYC photos from yesterday

NYPD boat passing by Roosevelt Island, formerly known as Welfare Island, and formerly known as Blackwell's Island, and in future probably to be known as Obama Island:

Around 71 st, East River. FDR Drive on left, East River, Roosevelt Island on right. Bridge in distance is the Triboro, which the City Council has attempted to rename the RFK Bridge. Why? I have no idea.

Thanks for photos of my old neighborhood. Lived at 71st and Third in the 70s, 79th and East End in the 80s.

I used to jog along the pathway adjacent to the FDR Drive.

Trivia most Upper East Siders don't know:

York Avenue was named after Sergeant York, WWI hero;

Prior name was Avenue A.

Yes. Older buildings still have Ave. A carved on them.
