We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
It is clear now that your president, on the verge of bollixing his first major initiative … aside from the ones about letting jihadis go and making kissy face with mullahs, also some environmental nonsense, your money for abortions in other countries, and a bunch of tax cheats for high office and, there’s probably more but I’m having trouble keeping track … needs you, the American people, to weigh in. Judging by the polls, that might not work out too well. I hope he stuck this thing on YouTube and Twittered it and didn’t just leave it in the Washington Post, because I think a lot of the people who read it there, to judge by the polls, are going to be among those who aren’t buying it and the president is going to need the vital support of those people who still think being “cool” is a qualification for leadership of the free world.
Stimulus... because all economies have performance issues.
I haven't heard too many man-on-the-street-types defending The Øne yet. Just paid hacks masquerading as "journalists" and delusional Congresscritters. Even the fruits and nuts who inhabit San Fran were posting scathing comments after the critical editorial that was posted here the other day.
Watching and criticizing the most dangerous, anti-American presidency in my lifetime unfold may be more cathartic than defending Bush 24/7 was, but for some reason I'm not enjoying it as much.

Has everyone seen the stealth story of the month? The Congressional Quarterly reports that The White House plans to take control of the 2010 Census, run it directly out of the White House and not by the Commerce Department.
Will there be any way to prevent the use of Statistical Projections in the census by the Democrats in the 2010?
I'd say that the democrats are determined to never lose another election.
Jephnol ... I just checked over on Theo's website and there's a very beautiful wench there, and she's already in bed. My husband likes her -- he sighed gently, "I wish she were mine." "no you don't," I replied snippily. "If she were yours, you would have a very boring, hungry weekend. I don't cook for other women's men."
