Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

What do you call your $1.4 trillion a year on military spending and your fake wars, not socialism? Get real.
Hmmm, having trouble recalling any fake wars. Unless you mean the war on drugs... The war on poverty? War on obesity? Smoking? Or perhaps the new war on capitalism? Now those are some mighty fake wars. Except the one on capitalism. I'm afraid that one is all too real.
It's not memory that you're having trouble with, it's comprehension. A fake war is when you give billions and trillions of the taxpayers dollars to defense contractors to achieve zero military objectives. It's when almost after a decade, you still wont track down the money trail that financed 9/11, because it leads to places like Saudia and Pakistan.
Yeah, Bush lied, people died! So we need to pull out of Iraq and spend one trillion dollars on pork now!
Do you even listen to yourself? Oh thank God! Now every day will be like a trip to the Division of Motor Vehices.
Bureaucrats are wise! Not power mad paper pushers! Welcome to the glorious revolution. Now get in line. mika2k1, your boot licking is most excellent. You will be first to raise glorious flag of revolution. To make revolution please to pay tax burden for comrades Geitner, Daschle, et al, whose glorious struggle to liberate the worker (or non-worker as case may be) you now join. It is for wisdom of imperial leaders such revolution exist. So, dear comrade get in line. Just like sheep. Stoopid, stoopid sheep. Asshole. Save your partisan theatrics for the morons that still buy into it. All I see is Washington Corruptocrats. And as far as I'm concerned they should all be lined up against the wall and shot dead.
One trillion dollars for entitlements, give or take $50 million for stimulus. Start a revolution! It's brilliant.
Yes, mika2k1- The proper verbiage should be in proper Chestertonese:
"It is terrible to contemplate how few politicians are hanged." Still, you have my sympathies - You probably stumbled here thinking Bob Dylan was some kind of radical leftist Obama-lover. Try Map Quest... If we were a country of fairly informed and relatively educated people, which we once were before college degrees were handed out as coupons at the supermarket checkouts, our sense of historical warnings would be acute. And President O would still be fixing potholes and getting trees trimmed in his old Chicago ward.
As it is, in this Brave New World of America, almost half the population is on dope peddled by the other half. "The purpose of Nazi propaganda was to present an ostensible diversity behind which is an actual uniformity."
- Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's propaganda minister This is a very accurate depiction of the situation in the US. What you have in the US is a criminally corrupt political system, where unelected corporations decide the future of 300 million people thru a two party monopoly of Washington Corruptocrats. And the MSM wont expose it, because the MSM is a major player in this corrupt political system. All without linking a Daily Kos diary! You carry your water oh so well.
Mika,
I will, for the moment, grant you dispensation from what I perceive to be a less than disciplined thought process to address your one point here - money politics. Daschle is a prime example, bit one of many. I will also not go into the many contributing factors to the problem of money politics. I do have a solution. 1) Institute a flat tax with a single rate and no deductions 2) Term limits - 2 terms for Senate and 4 terms for Congress (although I could be persuaded to consider changes in the term for Senators) 3) The elimination of all federal entitlement programs (Let the states do this, if they want to - this is just inefficient money transfers anyway) The will take the money out of the hands of politicians and then we can start thinking about how to build a great nation once again. Bush, Obama, Daschle and the rest of Congress, they're all the same. All whoring for the multinational corporations.
Mika,
Please read AND comprehend the first phrase in my initial response to you. Secondly, the "whoring multinationals" are simply responding to the incentives established by the "whoring" politicians. Third, please read Jephnol's comment below and take his recommendation. Fourth, those of us who are free do not have re-education camps - so you will have to learn to think to understand us. Thinking can be difficult to learn and does take effort. Lastly, do you have something constructive to say about how to resolve the problem. You have fully used up the patience I have allotted to you. Now get to it. Best regards,

== First, let me thank you for the thoughtful reply, but I think you're dead wrong. The "whoring multinationals" and the "whoring politicians" are a product of the political system. It is the political system and its built-in susceptibility to be so easily gamed, that is the root of the problem.

You're kidding! You expect thoughtful replies when what you have put forward as a solution is to uproot tens of millions of families with a new society? No problem there. I guess you do deserve a thoughful response, because it really is simple, let's just get rid of the man and we can live in harmony, dude.
Anyway, eliminating taxes, government programs, government borrowing, is always a good thing. I think we can eliminate the Federal government altogether, and be much better off. Again, thanks for the thoughtful reply.

I do have a solution.
== How about eliminating the this corrupt Federal system altogether? How about eliminating the Corporate State and the super citizen rights and privileges corporations enjoy currently, by downsizing government and making it illegal for corporations to be involved in politics? Yes, that's it! It's so simple and elegant! Why didn't I think of this before? We can all live short lives in mud huts. Thanks for your wisdom.
mika2k1, thanks for putting on display a wonderful example Modern Education taught by liberal Professors...
I will give odds your age isn't more than about thirty two. Sorry if I went off a little hot. My application of Alinsky's Rules for Radicals still lacks subtlety. Mea culpa. Have mercy.
All you see are "corruptocrats". Yes, so the answer (International Answer no doubt) is to install the incorruptable leaders of your choosing and then, my friend, we will truly live in a workers paradise! Paradise at last, our leaders can be trusted! And you don't see the foolishness in this? Ah! It is wonderful. Your faithfulness will be rewarded.
Please read The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, and you will understand...Woland and Behemoth are looking for fools like you. Join the United Workers Party for Hope and Change. Just because this batch of leaders went bad doesn't mean the next glorious leader will be corrupt. (Psst! The answer my friend is to give the government more power and then the true leaders will emerge!) Can't you see? It's beautiful, man! It's so simple.
I betya 100 Ameros or a millions worthless US dollars that these Workers Party clowns are financed by the CIA.
Or interstellar aliens. I'm serious.
You need to get back on your medication. Seriously.

There is no such party. He is alluding to the communist party because of what you have written. One thing I can be sure of, you will not make to many friends here if you are (i) a Marxist or have Marxist tendencies or (ii) an anarchist. Your logic, if I can call it that, seems to take you to one place or the other. You need to think before you write or speak. Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise. (Just so you know, I did not make that up. It's been around for a while.)

Wow, a Gen-yew-whine 911-truther. Haven't seen your like in pert-near 9 months. Certainly not since none other than Slick Willie shot you guys down. Once he outed you folks the msm stopped even giving you the useful-idiots attention you so crave. I figgered you all moved on to globalistic warmering, but I suppose the more right-wing faction couldn't buy that brand of crazy. Well as the saying goes, go sell crazy somewhere else. With 2 or 3 resident shrinks, we're full up here.

== Actually, I'm a Libertarian with a strong nationalist right wing leaning. I think the problem here is that you're all so accustomed to thinking in binary terms, and have been so thoroughly propagandized by the Federal Socialists, that you can't even recognize someone who is right wing when you see one.

beat the clock by 22 minutes...It's been my observation that the left and the right wing are composed of basically the same kind of people. Sad, helpless, whiny losers who fall back on simple absolutist thinking that never will work in the real world. Thus they rest easy in their "knowledge" that the real world is what is "wrong" and the only way it can exist as it is is if it conspires against them. Same goes for the religion types.

This new internets dating service has produced the meeting of the moonbat left and the tinfoil hat right and sent them on a date to the darkside of the circular logic that has become our national discourse... and the offpsring puppy dog chases its tail.
Cute. But I say follow the money. And the money always leads to the same source.
mika... you're an enchilada short of a combo.
Man has been exploiting man since there were two of them. And the one who was successful usually had a strong woman behind him. You seek to cure human nature... good luck with that. You seek to cure human nature... good luck with that.

Not mine necessarily, but ones that I agree with.
I do find it interesting that you all pretend to lament the coming of socialism, yet when confronted by the fact that the Federal Socialists have been distributing trillions of taxpayers money by way of welfare checks to their favorite corporations for quite a while now, you all assume a porcupine defensive stance, accusing me of advocating left wing heresy and anarchy. You people are pathetic, really.

The government puts small electronic devices in our heads to control us by satellite so we have to wear tinfoil hats to protect us from the radio waves! Quick! Call the Psychic Friends Hotline! We'll get to the bottom of all of this! Put your tinfoil hat on mika2k1! Put your tinfoil hat on quickly! Or take your meds. You have no sense of irony. You think I'm the troll?
