We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Hmmm, having trouble recalling any fake wars. Unless you mean the war on drugs... The war on poverty? War on obesity? Smoking? Or perhaps the new war on capitalism? Now those are some mighty fake wars. Except the one on capitalism. I'm afraid that one is all too real.

It's not memory that you're having trouble with, it's comprehension. A fake war is when you give billions and trillions of the taxpayers dollars to defense contractors to achieve zero military objectives. It's when almost after a decade, you still wont track down the money trail that financed 9/11, because it leads to places like Saudia and Pakistan.

If we were a country of fairly informed and relatively educated people, which we once were before college degrees were handed out as coupons at the supermarket checkouts, our sense of historical warnings would be acute. And President O would still be fixing potholes and getting trees trimmed in his old Chicago ward.
As it is, in this Brave New World of America, almost half the population is on dope peddled by the other half.

This is a very accurate depiction of the situation in the US. What you have in the US is a criminally corrupt political system, where unelected corporations decide the future of 300 million people thru a two party monopoly of Washington Corruptocrats. And the MSM wont expose it, because the MSM is a major player in this corrupt political system.

I will, for the moment, grant you dispensation from what I perceive to be a less than disciplined thought process to address your one point here - money politics.

Daschle is a prime example, bit one of many.

I will also not go into the many contributing factors to the problem of money politics. I do have a solution.

1) Institute a flat tax with a single rate and no deductions
2) Term limits - 2 terms for Senate and 4 terms for Congress (although I could be persuaded to consider changes in the term for Senators)
3) The elimination of all federal entitlement programs (Let the states do this, if they want to - this is just inefficient money transfers anyway)

The will take the money out of the hands of politicians and then we can start thinking about how to build a great nation once again.

Fourth, those of us who are free do not have re-education camps - so you will have to learn to think to understand us. Thinking can be difficult to learn and does take effort.

First, let me thank you for the thoughtful reply, but I think you're dead wrong. The "whoring multinationals" and the "whoring politicians" are a product of the political system. It is the political system and its built-in susceptibility to be so easily gamed, that is the root of the problem.
