Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

A walk in the New England woods (photos)

On Saturday. As you can see from the age of the trees, these rocky woods were pasture 50-60 years ago. The remains of Chestnut trees, tragically felled by the Chestnut Blight in the early 20th century, can still be seen slowly disintegrating on the forest floor.

Quite a contrast to the Manhattan shots below. I think I prefer the woods.

There is a bank of elm trees here on campus that escaped Dutch Elm Disease. Sadly, some new fungus is attacking them now, and will likely kill them.

Me thinks the fluffy dog a standard poodle, red. My wife and I have two -- one red and a larger white/cinammon.

BD, nice shots. Dump the ones of the lower west side.

Happy to see the majestic red tail finally killed that tree rat, that destroyed your grill.

You can forget about me getting you a rug. Your dog will destroy it. : )

Does it sound as if a 'Fluffernutter' would tear up a rug? Maybe tear into the pillows or play with a bunch of kitties, but go on and get BD the rug.


P.S. I think Luther will anoint thee again. Knight of the Crossed Fluffernutters, Indeed. Esq. When you ride your steed into the Maine countryside and stop to speak to the peasants mining potatos, they will say: "Eh? And hoo ar ya?" You will smirk mightily and say, "Why, indeed. I am Knight of the Crossed Fluffernutters, Indeed.Esq." They will prolly say, "We arn't esquires no thanks to you." They might throw some spuds at your steed so be cautious.
