We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

No sappy Mom's Day commentary - just a virtual bouquet for my Mom, who happens to be in England at the moment with my Dad. (Still life by Juan de Arellano, c. 1650)

I know we don't have as much money as your present tour's residents, but tell me, it ain't about the money.
The market has NOT factored in capital gains hikes. The risk is recognized and it is a restraint to higher prices.
However, if it becomes clear that capital gains and other taxes are going higher, share prices will get hit as Kudlow suggests.
The federal budget is $3 trillion. BHO has proposed adding another $300 billion plus in entitlements (and my guess those numbers are understated) and putting the government in ever greater control of the economy. All of this is very bad for stocks, employment, entrepreneurship and freedom.
They are just passing, or rather, negating a 1969 law preventing the military from building high tech equipment. They're going to put a satellite up that will stop anything. Must be the new nationalism is to protect what children they do have? Probably not, though. They're tired of China and North Korea messing with them. A sleeping dragon awakes....
My friend and I played an hour of Grand Theft Auto IV and then we promptly sat down and drank this Cuervo and drove around. The little guy served it to us.
Disclaimer: The bottle is José Cuervo Reserva de la Familia. It’s a wonderful distillation—something to be savored. This particular bottle lasted for months. Sadly, it now needs to be replaced.
I don’t play video games, nor do my friends.
The little death bartender actually follows me around but all he does is bad Jim Carrey impressions. It’s very annoying.
I liked that 'car salesman' article. Long but interesting. Turns out that they are human just like the rest of us. And the gist of the article in sum... "Be Prepared". Sage advice for all of life.
In reference to the Obama oggling... I just don't 'get' why women find him so attractive. It must be the metro sexuality that does it. Or does it breakdown re politics... do Republic women find him just as attractive?
I don't buy into the thesis offered by Sensing. The national 'spirit' might play a small role in their declining birth rate... but the commenter's on that post do a good job of dissecting that theory.
They have lived under our umbrella for a long time... but as China and NK have evolved in military prowess Japan is realizing that time and distance will negate the practical influence of our response to an attack from either of them.
So, yes. A sleeping dragon... for self preservation.
They finally let us move our aircraft carriers into their waters. Could be some of their new high tech military gear will be stationed on one of our carriers. We're not farther away: We're closer. And nothing could be better for us.... or them.
It's Mother's Day. Put that bottle down. Or at least share it with your mama.
As for the 'death bartender', throw him at "Deer Crossing" sign.
I don't get the attraction at all. The purple lips whig me out a little, but he's no more attractive than any other decent looking guy.
I'm hot for Al Gore. His type turns me on. All that flesh. mmm. And a head that reverberates. oooeee.

Mother can get her own bottle of Ginger Schnapps if she's really hitting the DT's. I'm not letting my old number seven loose from my vise like grip until it's good and dry.
Death bartender disappears when I put the bottle to my lips, so I'm not seeing him too much.
Thanks for your concern.
out of the four, which one's never having been born would have been best for present-day USA?
drink with a straw -- that way you can keep an eye on him.

I read it all, too. Someone should have said it was a book....
I got a funny reaction reading it - shame. I have often been the 'victim' of the ploys the author delineates so well, and it was tough reading it. Though the author tried to humanize them at the end, it didn't change my mind about car salesmen one bit. The very nature of the job requires them to be scum, and they chose the job.
Them Coen Brothers sure nailed the retail car biz in "Fargo". One of many side narratives in the flick.
