We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
A friend visited this place last summer, and just told me about it. Humber Valley Resort.
Salmon fishing, golf, sailing, ocean fishing, spa, fine dining, hiking, skiing, kayaking, sailing, snowmobiling, wildlife-watching, etc. In Newfoundland, a place I have always been curious about even before I read any Annie Proulx. (I thought Proulx was from Newfoundland, but she is from Norwich, CT, same as my Grandpa.)
Take a look at their website: good slideshow. They have 150 chalets.
I am not a big fan of the Humber River Resort as this is a massive project which is impacting a critical salmon watershed. They markt their salmon fishing. In reality, the place appears to be a glorified golf resort. What happened to roughing it!
