Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Two great lines from the essay:
I have no problem with Johnson’s having found religion, but let us not pretend that he learned it by reading The Iliad. We'd have a more virtuous society if we hewed to The Iliad. Just as violent, though. ...we share a deep and abiding antipathy toward Our Miss Brooks. Where, oh where, is Eve Arden when we need her? Democrats Propose Bill to Neuter Militias
QUOTE: The legislation would prohibit publicly patrolling, drilling or engaging in harmful or deadly paramilitary activities, interfering with or interrupting government proceedings, interfering with someone else exercising their constitutional rights, falsely assuming the role of law enforcement, and “training to engage in such behavior.” The lawmakers propose different tiers of criminal penalties, depending on whether violations result in injury or property damage. The bill would establish harsher penalties for repeat offenders, and probationary sentences for first-time offenders. It would also create paths for the DOJ and private individuals to seek civil federal lawsuits against paramilitary activity. https://www.vice.com/en/article/n7e5xm/democrats-propose-bill-to-neuter-militias RE: The US has plenty of lithium
Yes it does, just like it has plenty of iron, copper, nickel, etc., and even rare earth elements. But the trick is you have to produce them. You don't just flick on a switch and produce these metals. It can take up to 20 years to identify, permit, and build a new mine in the USA. I wish I had the answer. Our government has just sold off the last of our national helium supply. This all began almost 30 years ago when congressmen was paid under the table to pass a law to sell it off to private owners. Yes our elected leaders profited by screwing us over, surprise. But who cares, who cares about helium? Well Russia and China do because helium is necessary to manufacture silicon chips and in most other high tech industries. In fact you can't get an MRI if there is no helium. So why in the hell would our government sell it off? For the same reason they opened our borders. Most of our politicians are dishonest and sell themselves to the highest bidder and right now the highest bidder is China. We are dependent on China for so many essential goods that when China decides to cut us off or economy and society will be severely impacted. There is a worldwide disaster on the horizon and our own politicians are making sure it will impact us in the worst way. And our MSM is doing their best to make sure you don't know what is going on.
That requires MORE than a simple legislative bill. It would require an amendment to the Constitution, not that democrats wouldn't try to bully it into law without an amendment.
Shrink the administrative state to near extinction so that each congresscritter has to make a recorded vote for or against approvals and has to provide evidence for or against approvals instead of leaving evidence gathering to the admin state and hiding responsibility for decision making.
The admin state and lobbyists currently write most law and create far too much law while out of site of the voters. "Its the border stupid" is all about cheap labor for corporatists and cheap labor gardeners and nannies to serve the elite. They weren't satisfied importing cheap goods and hollowing out our economy but now they insist on cheap imported labor as well and hollowing out the middle class.
UNRWA: write your congress people (Senators, Rep's) and Biden. Tell them to stop all funding permanently to corrupt UNRWA.
Today, UNWatch testifiying at Congress about longterm corruption. Also, Ilhan needs to be thrown out of congress based on her recent talk in Somali. Jamie Dimon recently predicted that the U.S. economy will collapse into another great depression that will take us ten years to climb out of. He isn't just another talking head. If you were to make a list of people who have their finger on the pulse of the economy and who aren't biased and/or work for the government Mr. Dimon would be in the top ten and perhaps number one on the list. Almost everyone who prognosticates about the U.S. or world economy has a dog in the fight and has to say the right things and can't speak the truth. Our inflation rate over the past three years was roughly double what our government has told you so in just three short years Bidenomics has given us ablit 48% inflation and it's still piling up. Our national debt is an astronomical number and is about 135% of the national GDP. The magic number was always thought to be 100% that means when our national debt exceeded 100% of the GDP we would enter another great depression. But two things have held that at bay: The speed with which Biden has screwed the pooch hasn't allowed the consequences to catch up yet. And #2 the federal government was giving away money and the FED was buying our debt with fake money which has hidden the inevitable consequences. But the chickens coming home.
Not to mention the desire of Those Who Know Better Than Us to replace that uppity black minority with (hopefully) more pliant latinos.
Dimon is an optimist if he thinks it will only take 10 years. Even the great depression took more than 2 decades to get back to where it stalled. The South Sea bubble collapsed in 1720 and didn't bottom until about the time of the signing of the Bill of Rights.
The banking industry has financialized everything and seem totally surprised when each segment blows up. The next collapse will find the depositors bailing out the banks. Make sure your bank isn't caught up in the latest and greatest scheme. Update from Sharyl Attkisson:..... (found at Whatfinger)
Prosecutors admit US signed a cooperation agreement with a Sinaloa cartel leader. Now what blew up under the Joe Obama regime that this is coming out? The porous border is also a good way for an invading army to infiltrate the country. Kurt Schlichter has a book available on Amazon called "The Attack" which hypothesizes the toll an internal attack on public spaces (day one), neighborhoods (day two), and infrastructure (day three). It's no Nobel Prize winner, but frighteningly plausible. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/204413500-the-attack
Agree, but also lots of laws and people willing to use them to place expensive and very time consuming road blocks in the way to opening a mine, much less actually building the mine. And then there is the essentially complete lack of ability to process the ore and refine the metals. We were nearly self sufficient in basic aluminum refining and processing until ~30-40 yrs ago when smelters became too expensive to run and were slowly shut down and decamped to countries with cheaper electricity and that was when electricity was still cheap.
