We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The UN Demands All Central Banks Stop Rate Hikes And Switch To Price Controls Instead
Display comments as (Linear | Threaded)
Well, good luck to the UN. In other news, the EU demanded price caps on Russian gas. How did that work out?
Price controls -- another leftist delusion that never dies (most recently, Robert Reich and Lizzy Warren). You can go back to Ancient Rome, the French Revolution, Soviet Union, etc., etc.
It NEVER works. What you get is shortages. Better all the gas you want at $5.00 per gallon than gas lines at $2.00 per gallon.
If you want to see the happy outcomes from putting price control power in the hands of Government, just compare the price of gasoline in California vs. Texas: More than 2x.
The outrageous, Democrat-friendly census errors you've heard nothing about
While the bureau, in conducting its Post-Enumeration Survey, only found a relatively small net undercount in the total US population of 0.24% — or approximately 780,000 people — it also found major overcount/undercount errors when it comes to the 50 states.
And strikingly, it appears one party seems to have overwhelmingly benefited from the errors. You can probably guess which.
According to von Spakovsky, as a result of the errors, historically blue Minnesota should have lost a congressional seat. Light-blue Colorado was awarded a new congressional seat to which it was not entitled. The same goes for bright-blue Rhode Island.
Meanwhile, red states Texas and Florida should have gained one and two seats respectively but did not.
The Globalist Climate Agenda is a Crime Against Humanity
Lessons From Ukraine: Turns Out the Imperatives of the Woke Are Not in Demand
Perhaps most disturbingly for the Woke, none of the imperatives they value so much turned out to be much in demand in war. People proved far more interested in survival—in guns, power, water, firewood—than in climate change, social justice, or gender identity. Mobility depended on “fossil fuels,” and people scrounged for it. Where could anyone have charged an electric car in Ukraine anyway? Despite the reported death of the family as an institution, thousands risked or lost their lives searching for their parents, grandparents, children, and grandchildren. And when they met, there was no social distancing. They embraced. One of the small mercies of the war was that few were reputed to have died of Covid.
Re: Boys in School
When I was in elementary school, we had three recesses: Morning before school started, later morning, and after lunch. I read that a lot of elementary schools have gotten rid of recess. This adversely impacts boys -- I am willing to bet that those treated for "developmental disability" were just "antsy" because they don't have the chance to release pent-up energy.
I already noticed even twenty years ago that men on television shows were portrayed as idiots. Like the article states, there is a big push for women into STEM, but nothing about encouraging men in HEAL.
Yep, you can have price controls or you can have product. Your choice. The progs would love price controls on fuel and electricity. We would wind up without either one. On the other hand, it would be a great population control policy for the climate hoaxers and the sustainability crowd.
Dot gov can always purchase the needed "expert" analysis from the appropriate experts to mandate their sustainability standards.
I remember being miserable during rainy days that had no recess outside. Boys, if not girls, need to run around and let off that energy. Needing recess time is far from an indication of being a poor student. I was the best student in my class.
Climate, hurricanes and Greenland... The old timers, like Lindzen, in the climate field have observed dot gov funding the results that dot gov needs to enable ever more control and booty.
The IPCC has always stripped out contrary data from the IPCC reports. It's about the money and control and not the climate.
Politics first and foremost.
The educators are happy to push a pharma product, like Ritalin, than to provide recess to prevent boredom.
In this story is a video of an interview with a FBI whistle blower. You got to listen to it https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/victoria-taft/2022/10/04/5-years-after-las-vegas-concert-shooting-an-fbi-whistleblower-reveals-probable-motive-n1634216 It is worth the 47 minutes.
Something smells. I can remember my mother saying that when I was a kid. Then she would go searching for and find whatever it was that failed to get into the garbage can or fell under the sink or what ever. I don't ever remember actually smelling it but she could smell a two day old orange peel from the other room.
Something smells! Our government is giving military weapons and ammunition to include missiles etc. to Ukraine and we aren't replacing them. We could easily replace them using the existing military budget or even just a small portion of all the billions and maybe even trillions we have lost to fraud in or massive and foolish spending bills in the last couple of years. But we aren't.
Biden is depleting our oil reserves ostensibly to lower gas prices but it doesn't and we find out a lot of that oil went to China. If we had a military emergency would we have the oil we need to defend ourselves?
The military is purging patriots under the guise of purging "white supremacists" and they are demanding that everyone who isn't purged admit to being racists and act like they did something wrong. And we didn't even come close to meeting our recruiting goals even though we stooped to recruiting cat IV candidates (that is morons to those who don't know what cat IV is).
We are pushing and poking the bear and seem to be intent on provoking a nuclear war for christ sakes!
Our borders are open and unknown numbers of military age men from every possible country are sneaking into the country and we don't know where they went, what they are doing or why. And we don't seem the slightest bit interested in finding out.
You may not have heard (because the MSM is keeping it quiet) but there is a HUGE Chinese spy plot that is unfolding. and we are kissing China's ass!!!
I'm sorry! I smell something and it is rotten to the core. Why are we doing any of this? Add into all of this what our DOJ and FBI are doing and something just smells. I don't like where all of this is going. Something stinks in our government.
This is more than the Vegas shooting and well worth the listening. Too many will stand with Antifa, with BLM, with the Democratic socialists and will stand with Islam. They will not stand with liberty.
Sure they can.
But no one has to listen to them.
Stay in so we can continue to veto stuff. Keep a staff of about 5 to go to meetings. Stop sending money.

In totally unrelated news The Biden regime is quietly buying up $290 million in anti-radiation drugs for use in "nuclear emergencies" amid escalating tensions with Russia and heightened threats of a nuclear war. Move along. Nothing to see here!
