Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Given that COVID is mostly a threat to the elderly, the immuno-compromised, and those with co-morbidities, you kinda have to wonder why the government is so adamant that everybody needs the vaccine. Health official bureaucrats just being bureaucrats? Payoff to Big Pharma? Something sinister with the vaccines? Who knows? But you can see the case for conspiracy theories like microchips in the vaccines or plans to sterilize a large portion of the population since universal vaccines don't make any sense, especially since they are not effective at all as a vaccine.
Electric vehicles are not a terrible idea. In certain situations, they might be a very well-considered alternative solution. For example, in urban environments, where the number and concentration of internal combustion-driven vehicles is high, they might be a great way to address pollution buildups - especially in places where weather inversions can make the smog unbearable. And urban environments generally mean shorter journeys, more frequent stops, so on - more conducive to delivery and shuttle operations, more conducive to charging cycles. So, like solar and wind, I can see them as very good solutions to specific conditions that call to their benefits and strengths.
Our problem right now is that we have imbeciles setting energy policy, who have concluded that electric vehicles are a brilliant solution to everything, since they're the only alternative to internal combustion, and since hydrocarbons must be totally abolished no matter what they're used for, to save the planet which isn't in trouble. There's no engineering critical thinking going on to inspect our options without it being filtered by an inherent and insidious social bias. The covid vaccine is 98 times worse than the virus. It's almost as though they intentionally intended to kill us! Huh! But yet the mandates and the boosters continue. It's almost as though now they want to kill our kids! Naw! That's just crazy conspiracy theory. Right! Right!!
QUOTE: To begin with, EVs don’t even save much on CO2 emissions Electric cars are only as green as the source of power. Green power means green electric cars. QUOTE: the materials needed for all of those batteries are controlled by the Communist Chinese Party There are a number of new technologies coming on line that will require little or no lithium. QUOTE: Despite massive subsidies, together with efforts by many governments to force consumers to buy electric vehicles, consumers aren’t buying. In China, about 24% of new cars are electric. The U.S. lags, but has passed the critical tipping point of 5% wherein market preferences will lead to rapid adoption of new technology. "Green power means green electric cars."
But only if you make believe that the batteries and the car itself was all created by magic. In fact an EV uses more fossil fuel to mine, manufacture, transport and support then it can ever save in it's useful life. The closest thing to green high output, reliable energy is nuclear. We all know how the greenies feel about nuclear energy.
They either want to kill us, or turn us LGBTQRSTUBGCXDR.
It is beyond criminal what they are doing to children. There will be a steep price to pay. JustMe: In fact an EV uses more fossil fuel to mine, manufacture, transport and support then it can ever save in it's useful life.
So, you reject Bjørn Lomborg's claim that "Over its lifetime, an electric car does emit less CO2 than a gasoline car, but the difference can range considerably depending on how the electricity is generated." An MIT study showed that, while emissions were higher during manufacturing, electric cars produce lower emissions over the life of the vehicle. See Miotti et al., Personal Vehicles Evaluated against Climate Change Mitigation Targets, Environmental Science & Technology 2016. If the energy source is green, then the difference is very significant. "Vaccines 98 times worse than the virus"...that's what the headline says, but the story doesn't say that: it refers specifically to the 18-29 age range.
Just about everything having to do with Covid and vaccines is age-specific. The “ curator” isn’t even an art historian. She’s a joke.

It's a word game. How to word something so the general public thinks one thing BUT if challenged you can show that you are correct somehow BUT actually meaning something else. I think it is possible, still unlikely but possible, that once the EV is made and delivered that it COULD use less energy in it's lifetime than a ICE vehicle. So if you ignore the massive amount of fossil fuel it requires to mine the raw materials, and to manufacture all of the components, assemble and transport the EV and ONLY calculate the energy use AFTER all of that, then MAYBE the EV fossil fuel usage is less than a ICE. Nice little word game you got there. It would be a shame if someone exposed your scam. JustMe: So if you ignore the massive amount of fossil fuel it requires to mine the raw materials, and to manufacture all of the components, assemble and transport the EV and ONLY calculate the energy use AFTER all of that, then MAYBE the EV fossil fuel usage is less than a ICE.
It's not a word game. We provided a citation. You can find others. Production of an electric vehicle emits more than production of a internal combustion vehicle, but that is more than made up for over the life of the vehicle. Electric vehicles are as green as their energy source. Meanwhile, new technologies are coming on line that will require far less in terms of scare minerals. "Meanwhile, new technologies are coming on line that will require far less in terms of scare minerals."
Where have I heard that before? It sounds so familiar. Wait! Let me guess. If we tax our citizens and give the money to one of these companies that our political leaders are in bed with they promise to do miracles. Is that what you mean? They are the new Solyndra! What could possibly go wrong??? By golly you were right. The 18-29 YOs are dropping dead on the sports fields because of the vaccine. But the 60+ YOs, not so much, they are dropping dead because the vaccine doesn't work. So... you were "right" but in a meaningless sort of way.
And while on the subject of Chaedria...
I think Basquiat is the Emporer's New Clothes of the "art" world. There is nothing there, but we are all supposed to "Oooohh!" and "Aaaaahhh" over the "brilliance" of the "art." Re: European Manufacturers Reel From Russian Gas Shutoff
I had read that Israel had planned a pipeline to Europe via Cyprus. And for some reason, Biden had a say in the approval and shut it down. Last I read, Israel and Egypt were working on selling natural gas to Europe. I guess shipping it. JustMe: They are the new Solyndra!
Tesla, market cap $915 billion. John Fisher: And we believe any 'statistic' from China why exactly?
Do you think electric vehicle factories and dealerships are hidden from the public? China's markets are open enough to allow independent verification. QUOTE: Biden's decision — reportedly coordinated with Turkey but reached without consulting Israel, Greece or Cyprus, the main countries involved in the project — undercuts three of the strongest American allies in the Mediterranean region. Plus, pipelines, except Nord Stream 2, are bad for the Climate. Maybe Turkey gives 10% to the Big Guy? What's the difference between the Mob and the US Government? Actually, three representative quotes with responses. From the second link to Hayward: QUOTE: grid operators have asked EV owners not to charge their vehicles in the evening, when power demand is highest and the time of day when most working people will want to charge their cars. No. People don't want to charge their cars in the evening. They want to plug them in when the return from work in the evening, then be ready when they leave in the morning. Has Hayward not heard of computers? People even carry them in their pockets now. The problem is also the solution. Electric devices can be used to help balance the system. They can charge when green sources of energy are available, and return energy when energy demand is highest. QUOTE: at the world’s average electricity sourcing today, a C40 driver would need to drive his car 68,000 miles to reach a break-even carbon footprint with a gasoline-powered model. That repeats what was already discussed. Electric vehicles are only as green as their energy source. In Minnesota or Vermont, for instance, the break-even point on emissions is within a year. DeGaulle: Just like their construction industry.
Good example. We have enough information from public sources that China is overbuilt and overleveraged in the real estate industry, much like the U.S. was fifteen years ago. My point was that lack of transparency has brought it to a state of imminent collapse. Have you no sense of irony?
DeGaulle: My point was that lack of transparency has brought it to a state of imminent collapse.
It appears similar to the U.S. real estate bubble, excess liquidity right out in the open. |
