We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The pandemic could actually strengthen the U.S. food system. The shock to U.S. food chains from the coronavirus has been a boon to small- and mid-sized farms and distributors. Could it be the start of a new way to get food?

Japan Could Shape The Pacific’s Undersea Defenses
And with another 600+ sailors, the Japanese Navy could single-handedly reverse Japan's declining birth rate.
"Rut" claims the privileged white gas hag. I'll bet she is utterly dependent on modern technology to get through her day and has no idea that we all stand on the shoulders of many giants. Certainly for the last 300-400 years the inventors, innovators and the entrepreneurs have been dominated by mostly men of European extraction. I'm going with them if the SHTF.
As far as I know, we are still under a National State of Emergency, with the Stafford Act invoked, giving Trump a list of extraordinary powers. His LE people can pretty much go where they want to, I think.
So far, we have witnessed state and local officials taking the microphone to announce they will not act to interfere with the mostly-peaceful protest (looting, arson, head-thumping, property destruction, citizen hassling, and confiscation of public real estate). They won't interfere - that is, until the protest shows up at their actual doorstep, in which case action is swift and effective (this has happened at least 3 times that I count).
Then we have the local Law Enforcement Officials whose new task (at the direction of the Mayors and Governors) seems to be holding press conferences to catalog the destruction in their precincts. Since they are not actually doing anything about the havoc, describing the mayhem leading to the smoking rubble is their new role.
Then we have the Feds under Trump, who seem to have been quietly building criminal cases and infiltrating the mobs to collect evidence. And now they are starting to grab people, which tells us they have cases nearly ready.
Where are the citizens? That's the part that interests me. I don't expect direct media coverage, but I'm surprised something hasn't broken through. They'll be paying to correct the damage after all - well, those who haven't been looted and torched out of home and business, anyway.
How about those stellar mothers standing arm in arm to protect their destructive offspring from the Feds. Now I wonder why those kids turned out so bad, huh?
Michelle Malkin beaten by BLM thugs and prevented from speaking at Denver pro-police rally
All these topics are depressing...I need some cheering up...I'm thinking the Hard Rain version of Maggie's Farm.
"Well, I try my best to be just like I am, but everybody wants you to be just like them.
They sing while you slave and I just get bored."
How can these leftist dimwits not realize they are living in the greatest country on earth at the best time in all of civilization.
Did they stop teaching history in schools?
I don't care what anyone says. When I put my Sloppy Joe mix into a tortilla it becomes a Sloppy Jose.
I've been listening to KNUS (Denver local radio) this morning reporting on this. Disgusting. It is apparent that the Denver Cops were told to stand down and do nothing. So that is what they did.
The rioters are denying and trampling on the civil rights of American citizens. The politicians are aiding and abetting the rioters in this coordinated effort. There is a precedent for the federal government to send in federal officers to restore the citizens rights and law and order.
It is past time to declare Antifa to be an international terrorist organization. It is now time to do the same for BLM.
Ah, Paullie "The Beard" Krugman. Can't win for losing. Couldna happen to a smarter guy, and he's not a "smarter guy".
The answer to that is so simple. Self defense. A gun, a baseball bat, knife, icepick, whatever works. THEN the police would step in. They don't care how much the left attack and assault but they will step in to prevent the attacked from defending themselves.
re B Hammer
She is their to attend a pro-police rally and the police pay her back by standing down, and watching her, a tiny woman, getting beat up.
One wonders how the police live with themselves?
Men are supposed to protect women. Whatever the Denver police are, they aren't men.
Side bar: Radio station KNUS is Sunk spelled backwards. Funny. I wonder if they realized that when they selected the call letters?
>> Jose descuidado, hombre.
Took reading thru a half-dozen definition sources until I found one that said "descuidado" can mean "sloppy".
"It's tough being Green"; ditto for being OCD. :)
"Where are the citizens?"
Speaking only for myself, but I'm waiting. Patiently waiting.
Eventually, they'll run out of things to destroy in the city and then coming looking elsewhere.
Re Federal Agents in Portland
Once federal properties are attacked, it is no longer a "local" matter, it is a federal one.
