We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

You know what else I hate about AA? They expect us to stop drinking, which we need to drink because of the powerless impoverishment that the patriarchy has forced us into. And now AA wants to take that away from womyn too?
The left is made up of various groups who want something. They have a grievance or agenda. They typically chose to elevate themselves or their argument by blaming others and in particular blaming the founders, white men, the rich, big business, etc. This tactic works, generally a minority group creates a meme, doesn't have to be truthful it only has to be appealing, and the media goes all in and of course the squeaking wheel gets the grease. The "grease" in most cases is your tax money. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson made millions shaking down "the man". Global warming is just another one of these shakedowns using the same tactics that the various grievance scam artists have used for decades it is just on a much larger scale. The goal is the same, to get your tax dollars, but also on a much larger scale.
Re: Medical Journal Declares War on Natural Gas
I was going to say that the New England Journal of Medicine should stick to medical issues but they'd just screw that up too.
Re: The Climate Decade that Was: Failed Predictions, Tour De Paris, and the Gretas
Have ANY global warming prediction actually happened?
The worship band actually worshiping is pretty funny. Myself, being a cradle catholic, am rather appalled by the rock band concept at service, but who am I to judge - so says the Pope. The church where my step-father goes has such a band, so while visiting him, if I’m there on Sunday, I will go to church with him. A month or so ago, he called and said that he is considering moving to another church, the band is out of control! The stage lighting was the final straw! Lights blinking on and off, changes of colors, spot lights on the singer, I can’t take it anymore B. Hammer, he told me. Evidently, others in the congregation must have had similar complaints, because the band has since dialed it way back.
Not from the Babylon Bee, but perhaps I should send it to them for consideration?
The New England Journal of Medicine has always had a political agenda. They have been publishing anti gun propaganda masquerading as medical studies for years. They think that guns are like germs. Germs cause disease and guns cause crime. Obviously, if you get rid of the germs that stops disease and if you get rid of the guns that stops crime.
Just look up what the Bee has to say abou5t Hillsong. Usually on the order of "I found a new club called Hillsong. The music and lighting were good, but I couldn't find a drink to save my soul..."
Power imbalance - Other people get to do what they want
Oppression - I don't get to do what I want
And she's in classic 2nd stage denial. First stage: I don't have a problem. Second Stage: maybe I have a problem, but it's not my fault.

MFers may have noticed my contempt for the Seattle/Boeing/Microsoft/Costco/Amazon, etc. crowd. I picked up this BBC article today.
Question: Pray tell me what kind of stupid, or strategy is it that has a corporation like Boeing submit requested emails Unrelated to congress and then send the same emails heavily redacted to the media? My cynicism tells me that the UNredated emails were in the hands of the media in minutes. Probably before the congressional committee even broke up for lunch! What is that strategical nonsense?
In case the link isn't working below is the link to the BBC article.
Please forgive. I meant to type un--redacted (to congress), but spell checker seems to be my enigma (enema) this morning!
I can put up with the rock/guitar Mass concept.
But I do find I periodically need to attend a Tridentine Mass in Latin with all the bells and incense at the Basilica as a countermeasure.
Everybody is watching out for the Outrageous Press (MSM) getting down to work in the presidential politics season, but I am more disturbed by the Conservative OUTRAGE Press industry. The messages seem to be getting dumber by the day, and the shrieking id getting worse. Look, not every lawyer that advocates for Democrats needs to be labeled 'Corrupt' in the headline. Not every progressive politician is a Communist. Not every legal judgment needs to be castigated just because it was made by a Clinton or Obama judge. The Conservative Press is really disappointing us here, getting overly tainted by its own biases. Geez. You're not helping, guys, you're setting it up for the message to be discounted due to craziness. Let's see how good you really are by showing a little nuance in your reporting, Hey? Keep the Sizzle, give us the Steak. If I want emotion-based rage multipliers, I'll watch CNN or MSNBC. (end-of-rant)
This is reminiscent of the text that one of the Ukrainian diplomats sent to his boss that openly questioned Trump's motives. Obviously the intent was to make a record that could be used to pursue a political agenda which we see unfolding today.
I suppose that an engineer could be so dense/unwise as to put this in writing never intending that it would be used by ambulance chasing lawyers to extract a few billion from his company. BUT I suspect that the author of that memo and others had an agenda. Boeing has a strained relationship between it's union and it's employees. It seems that making in excess of $100K for putting planes together just isn't enough so they have to sabotage the company with incredibly ill considered emails. What you are seeing is the union and pro-union employees sticking it to Boeing.
The 737 Max is a good plane, nothing is wrong with the airframe. I does have a software problem. BUT it is important to understand that these planes are complex and some of the "shithole" countries have pilots who simply do not have the training to fly these planes. The software problem can be and was over ridden by competent pilots many times. Yes I would agree it shouldn't have been necessary for the pilot to have to deal with and aggressive software problem but their training gives them the knowledge to do it. Boeing should have been more proactive because they know better than anyone else in the world that less than competent pilots do indeed fly their planes. THAT was Boeing's fault. BUT that is a world away from the claim that the plane was designed by clowns.
In the end the truth won't matter. A few disgruntled or stupid employees will bring Boeing to the brink of bankruptcy. A large fleet of perfectly good planes will most likely be scrapped. Dozens of lawyers will become multi-millionaires overnight. 99.99% of the world will believe that the plane itself was badly designed and not understand it was nothing more than a few lines of code.
Note to all corporations: If you have an employee who writes crap like this fire them immediately. That person is either too stupid to understand what they did OR they are traitors.
Well you are 50% correct. My state has two congressmen that I consider to be fair people. They are not stupid and they are not far left (i.e. socialist/communist). But the mouth the same blather as their communist colleagues, they defend them and their agenda and they blatantly lie in interviews when discrepancies in their party's line is questioned. So what is the difference between a hard line, anti-American, left leaning Democrat who would sacrifice their country to get rid of Trump AND a moderate Democrat who will tell the same lies and do the same actions in support of the far left commie democrat???
Well, that was 100% of my point! Wouldn't it be nice to know, maybe by hearing some kind of insightful analyses, intelligent point-counterpoint discussions, compare and contrast the two politicians? The way it stands it's either the MSM's mindless hagiographies, or the Conservative Panic Press' demonizations.
