We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
They nitpick everything Trump says as though they don't understand nuance or the art of the deal. Right now the big Trump "lie" is he wants a fence but he always said he wanted a wall. That is the gist of almost everything they fact check and find to be wrong. If Trump fails to dot an "I" it is an unpardonable sin and possibly an impeachable offense. But IMHO they are play into his hands. He is playing chess and they are arguing over checkers. While they follow the yellow brick road down a rabbit hole he continues to outplay them. I predict we will see wall/fence going up in the next two years AND that WaPo will still be declaring that "but Trump always said it would be a wall".
I enjoyed the part of his speech last night when he remarked offhandedly that he'd wanted a concrete wall but Democrats seem now to be insisting on a metal barrier, so, whatever.
In the meantime, his speech was about the crazy effects of not maintaining a real border, and the Democrat rebuttal was "Look at Susie the Fed Worker! She does something or other, that's not important, but she's worried she may not get her paycheck for her Good Government Job. Susie is Sad. Also, we're standing in front of a bunch of flags."
