We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
At this point, meetings between Trump and Putin would be more useful and productive than further meetings with the G6. Perhaps a G5 consisting of the US, Russia, China, Japan and Italy would be a good idea.
That'd just prove beyond a doubt to some that there's collusion between Trump and Putin.
Which would be grounds for impeachment, right? /sarc
Trump. There's nothing he can do right. Better economy? International relations? Internal issues? Nope, can't do any of it, because he's not an approved politician from inside the Beltway who rose up through the ranks in his party until he was allowed to run for Prez by the party. He's a crass, rude, uncouth interloper who all the 'proper' people hate, and if you don't hate him you're a deplorable, subhuman being who needs to be ruled by your 'betters'.
And the left wonders why the right doesn't consider them even halfway sensible any more...
Although Trump was their great guy when he was writing checks for both Republican and Democrat pols, poor PRESIDENT Trump doesn't know their secret handshake nor the password.
What a bunch of hypocrites. He's accomplished more to benefit the average citizen than any president, governor, congress critter or mayor I've encountered, and he's worked 24/7 to do it in just 18 months.
Our government is too big -- the better to hide it's evil goings, my dear -- with no attention to rule of law or individual rights. Past presidents and pols have sold OUR souls, including intellectual property and patents, to the devil in order to increase THEIR bank accounts and power. How they enter office broke and retire or die as millionaires is beyond me.
Feudalism was taking over until Trump started paring away at the arrogance of those who rule us. Term limits and transparency, please.
That congress tolerates refusal of records and oversight, and outright threats from the DOJ/FBI, means that most congresscritters are crooked perps "compromised" by information the FBI/DOJ has collected on them. Otherwise, congress would have subpoenaed the requested records, held refusers in contempt, and impeached those who participated in record withholding. The redacted fact that the FBI ordered a $70,000 table is the kind of record the FBI believes would lead to death, and destroy its sources and methods. And the identity of the fat guy who was highly paid while spying on the Trump campaign.
The scariest part is that our feckless congress is so crooked and unable to take action to get withheld records from the FBI/DOJ which they fund and from which they can remove officials for insubordination.
A key issue is What is the FBI/DOJ hiding so fiercely?
1. they monitored or otherwise spied on other politicians and campaigns, including Bernie Danders, Cruz, Rubio, Walker, Stein, Carson...
2. the DID NOT monitor or otherwise spy on Clinton or her campaign (a proof like Sherlock Holmes observation "the dog did not bark" )
Mexico obviously needs more gun control laws. Can we send David Hogg? 112 politicians killed since September 2017! Can you imagine a homicidal maniac trying to kill congress critters in the USA? Oh wait, that did happen. Some democrat tried to wipe out a whole ball field of republicans. Hoo humm, yawned the media and usual gun control fanatics, republicans deserve to die! Remember these are the same people that present themselves as our betters; the tolerant, inclusive, caring crowd.
Food Stamp Households Drop Below 20 Million for First Time Since 2010
More evidence Trump is reversing the 9-year Obama Depression (actually first triggered by the 2007 Democrat Congress). Let's hope Trump keeps taking steps to pull out economy out of the mess it was in under Obama. The biggest thing that could happen would be for courts to now declare Obamacare unconstitutional. That would remove a huge drag on our economy, restore more affordable healthcare, and according to the CBO, would bring at least 2.5 milion people a year back into the workforce.
Rosenstein and Mueller are both attempting to save their institutions by sweeping as much garbage as possible under the rug even if it results in a bit of stench when its over. The politicians and government employees are every bit as interested in saving the institutions because that's were they feed at the trough of life. Trump is doing the right thing by shrinking the institutions and when possible, putting them out of business. Good luck to him.
