We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
You've all seen photos and newsreels from the liberated concentration camps of fields and piles and small mountains of starved barely alive and dead bodies, and the anguished faces on many that are discernible. I won't repeat them here. Instead here's some photos that dramatize some of the background to the "final solution".
Not all went to the camps, many resisted, and some in the camps found the courage to rebel.
After the war, efforts were made to rehabilitate some survivors. Here's a photo of some crippled children being engaged in dirt lot games to build their strength back and their minds away from the horrors they'd encountered.
A short walk from Yad Vashem, Holocaust museum and memorials, is Mt Herzl military and founders cemetery.
That would have mattered in some places but not others.
Still, sand in the gears would have been a good thing.

Bloodlands is superb, and chilling, not so much focused on Jews as on all Ukrainians, many millions, starved and butchered by Stalin (Khruschev was Stalin's Ukraine henchman) and Hitler.
Where there were firearms available, mostly rural areas, there was quite a bit of resistance and joining with fighting groups, many communist/Soviet leaning, and many were anti-semitic themselves using Jews as fodder. But, at least, those Jews still had a chance to fight back. In any event, see the film or read the book Defiance. I attended college with one of the Belsky brothers two sons. Whether in the forests or the ghettos or camps or volunteering for Jewish brigades alongside the Allies, as many Jews as could find a way did fight. Most, however, were old, female, children, or simply overwhelmed and murdered.
If you're even in London, go see the Holocaust Exhibition at the Imperial War Museum. The most striking part was an HO scale model of Auschwitz. Even at that scale, the model was easily 30' by 30'. Just one of the many, many places to do the same thing. That really brought home the amount of effort the Nazis put into exterminating a segment of humanity.
"If you're even in London, go see the Holocaust Exhibition at the Imperial War Museum."
About 12 years ago while still living in London, I went to the Imperial War Museum to see the exhibition. At one point, I was sitting on a bench watching old black and white footage of German SS soldiers pulling the beards and curls of Hasidic men in Poland.
As I watched, a party of four-five Hasidic men came in and sat next to me on the benches. I glanced at them and I glanced at the film. They could have been the Jewish men in that footage so identical was their appearance.
Neither they nor I said anything; after a few moments, they quietly got up and walked away to the next exhibit.
I think you are correct in that the Nazi commitment would just be ramped up a notch or two. But it would be so much better for each person at risk to at least have the chance to defend themselves and possibly remove one or more of the Nazis even if it still cost them their own life. Or to put it another way the Nazis may have still killed 6 million Jews but the cost to them could have been a terrible price vs next to nothing when the victims are unarmed. Either way the lesson history has taught us should not be forgotten and our guns taken away by our politicians and school children being puppeted by activists.
There were only around 200,000 German Jews still living in Germany by the beginning of World War Two. When the Nazi took over in 1933, there were only half a million Jews out of a German population of 65 million.
Resistance - even with firearms - was never a realistic option against the Wehrmacht and SS.
Contrary to various myths, Hitler never disarmed the German population; the Nazis simply made it illegal for Jews, communists and those identified as antipathetic to the government to own firearms. But right through the war, Germans went on owning shotguns, hunting rifles and even handguns.
After all, the Nazis encouraged the German people to involve themselves in "martial sports" such as target shooting and hunting.

WINNING may not have been a realistic option, but better dying in a cloud of gunsmoke with your enemies sent ahead as an honor guard than the way most of them went out.
When the secret police come for you you *kill them*.

We just got rid of Obama and his openly anti-Semitic regime. Do you actually think anyone in the Democrat Party cares about the holocaust. Except, of course, for the deluded Jews like Barry Sanders who can't seem to understand what Keith Ellison and Roy Perez have in store for them.
