We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
When the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles meet Sunday for the Super Bowl, they'll play inside the newly completed U.S. Bank Stadium near downtown Minneapolis. The $1.1 billion stadium was built with almost $500 million from state and local taxpayers, with the city paying an additional $7.5 million each year for operations and maintenance.
It's not sports related but the same sort of corrupt thinking and behavior: the city of Boston paid General Electric to move their headquarters to the city. This payment came in the form of tax concessions. Our elite public servants, such as mayor Marty Walsh, touted the move as adding 200 high paying jobs to the area. I do some work with GE and have met a bunch of these folks, they were already employed at GE and moved to the Boston area from somewhere else.
I haven't seen evidence of how Marty may gain a personal financial benefit from supporting this move, so I have to believe he really thinks the city and public are better off somehow.
For proof that the politicians get the credit, just look for the plaques on the inside or outside of the buildings giving the names of the politicians in office when whatever was built using other peoples' money.
If it were up to me, I would cancel all professional sports. Why cheer for a bunch of out-of-town thugs? The main problem that I've got is that the worst sort of men get turned into heroes and role-models by the sports industry. I, for one, would not want my children to look up to a bunch of black gang bangers. I would want them to have more appropriate heroes; in literature, poetry, business, romance, and mythology; to name a few. Instead, we have a black cultural wasteland, where thieves and drug dealers are glorified as athletes.
It's a complete travesty. If there were no professional sports, then there would be local leagues instead, where local people could play and have fun. There might even be father and son leagues.
But the biggest problem with professional sports is that it sends the message to young white girls that sexual intercourse with black men is fine; even admirable. After all, these men are heroes. And once a young white girl starts dating black men, she is socially ruined. For the rest of her life, she has to lie about what she has done, and then feel endless remorse.
I think that it's high time that we consider what professional sports is doing to our young children.
“Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married, for he had married a Cushite woman.” (Numbers 12:1). Then consider this possibility. In God’s anger at Miriam, Moses’s sister, God says in effect, “You like being light-skinned Miriam? I’ll make you light-skinned.” Numbers 12:10: “When the cloud removed from over the tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, like snow.”
God says not a critical word against Moses for marrying a black, Cushite woman. But when Miriam criticizes God’s chosen leader for this marriage God strikes her skin with white leprosy.
If you ever thought black was a biblical symbol for uncleanness, be careful; a worse white uncleanness could come upon you.
