We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
My Leftist friends (as well as many ardent #NeverTrumpers) constantly ask me if I’m not bothered by Donald Trump’s lack of decorum. They ask if I don’t think his tweets are “beneath the dignity of the office.”
Here’s my answer:
We Right-thinking people have tried dignity. There could not have been a man of more quiet dignity than George W. Bush as he suffered the outrageous lies and politically motivated hatreds that undermined his presidency.
We tried statesmanship. Could there be another human being on this earth who so desperately prized “collegiality” as John McCain?
We tried propriety – has there been a nicer human being ever than Mitt Romney?
And the results were always the same. This is because, while we were playing by the rules of dignity, collegiality and propriety, the Left has been, for the past 60 years, engaged in a knife fight where the only rules are those of Saul Alinsky and the Chicago mob.
While Trump wasn't my first choice, I liked his "lack of decorum" in communicating with our friends on the other side of the aisle. When for the umpteenth time a Republican President or candidate for President is accused of being a Nazi- in this case a Nazi with a Jewish son in law- what is the point in silently subjecting oneself to such an attack? When the press largely consists of "Democrat operatives with bylines," what is the point of pretending that the press consists of objective, disinterested folk seeking to give the public an informed choice? George Stephanopoulos, a Clinton operative, is an objective journalist? Yeah, right.
I decided to vote for Trump because his enemies were my enemies, and he fought back.
I agree - the spineless party REFUSES to believe they're in a war, political or not. The Leftists don't take prisoners, have honor, nor should be taken at their word. Only way to win that fight is bigger knives, baseball bats, and tough shit-kickers...
One could say they're Stockholm'd by Pelosi et al, and the medial. Psss.... they aren't, never were, and never will be...
