We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I want to deport dreamers, it's completely IMMORAL not to.
No one would be pleased if the US went to another nation and strip-mined it's copper, or started a war for diamonds.
Yet DACA is all about taking and keeping other nations' most valuable resource: human ingenuity. It is outright exploitation.

In case the US media didn't know--here is an article about the current Russian build up of troops in Europe. You might be surprised!
I was hoping the "USA" chants would send an INTENDED message; we're tired of all the sniveling and pleading for special favors from the Dreamers and their crapweasel parents who sneaked out of Mexico and now want turn USA into another third-world catastrophe like the one they left.
Could we send them all to Venezuela?
Why are viruses considered to be non-living? Viruses are Alt-Llife. Alt- is a lately discovered characteristic in many classes of things, noticed coincidentally after the invention of the computer keyboard with the Alt key. Alt-Life, such as viruses, is as close to Classic Life* as Alt-right is to Classic Right in politics. So there.
* The e in the word life stands for establishment.
"Why are viruses considered to be non-living?"
I recently re-read the Asimov collection of essays entitled "On Chemistry" He spends a great deal of one chapter discussing this (Asimov had a PhD in biochemistry).
Odd and concerning to me is that I remembered he concluded that viruses were not living, but upon re-reading the chapter, he actually supports the notion that they are living.
Anyway, this piece in Cosmos was terrible. Poorly justified conclusions, vague descriptions of the facts and principles, improper consideration of competing points of view. In short, it's contemporary science! I'm sure it all seemed in order to the climate "science" community.
The mission statement of the bureaucracy is irrelevant. The actual mission is to increase the size and power of the bureaucracy.

Re: Exxonknew case - "He (The judge) suggested that if the plaintiffs were concerned about the effects of climate change on the facility in 2050, they should refile their case in 2045."
This made me happy.
Given that Betty Van Patter was abducted in Berkeley, and later murdered- her body was found a month later in San Francisco Bay- and that the Black Panthers appear to have been behind her murder, it is exceedingly ironic that Berkeley would honor the Black Panthers. A further irony is that Betty Van Patter's daughter has lived in Berserkely most of her life- though she no longer lives there.
Bing search term: Betty Van Patter.
Honestly, the folks in CT have nothing on WA state. The attorney general here is after a company that employees 850 people. He has contacted employess, including those out of the area, to try and get them to sue the company. Too bad the company doesn't hire illegals--they'd be safe then.
I suspect that more people want to deport dreamers than the author thinks. The problem is that the media and the advocates have built up the dreamers as something special and privileged. What isn't often discussed is that the America tax payer will pay through the nose if the dreamers get to stay. And the dreamers once they achieve amnesty or citizenship can bring in and endless chain of immigrants who will need and accept welfare and a bottomless bucket of associated public funding. I assume once the truth is known about the dreamers that most people would favor deportation.
So was this a joke? The basic premise seems to be that high standards including knowledge and understanding of the law is preventing minority graduates from passing the bar and thus the standards must be lowered. How does this help these potential attorneys or their future clients? Would any intelligent person choose an attorney who was so poorly trained in the law that they had to "deem" that they passed the bar?
The Federal courts have ruled that intelligence tests have an adverse effect on minorities so they can't be used in employment. Expecting people to be knowledgeable in their chosen profession is probably illegal. The Washington D.C. bar exam is notoriously easy. The wannabe lawyers should come to D.C. and take the exam.
